Does Prince really need to be a commercial again

The only reason why there's commercialism in music, is for marketing and record sales. It has nothing to do with the music and needless to say the artist. In the beginning commercialism is about being the next big thing, a number 1# artist and trying to prove urself to the media/ public eye. It's the way you create your fan base and compete in what seems as if it's a popularity contest. I think that's what the problem is in 2dayz music. Most artist, especially in pop music, seems to be more concerned about the marketing strategy of record sales other then focusing on what sounds like good music and if you had a good yr, scaling lp's and topping the chart of the billboards, you win a Grammy in the process.
Prince has been in the music biz for over 2 decades. We have seen him talk sexually explicit lyrics, to wearing binkin briefs on stage, to being in a completely spiritual state and preaching the good word in the gospel. As fan I feel as if Prince is more in his true state of music, then he was ever before. It's less about signing contracts, meeting certain dates a criteria’s and more about making good music in which you really don't hear anymore. He has the freedom to do what he wants as he please, He has complete creative control, in his music and in his vision. While fans may be worrying that Prince career is over, this freedom represents only to me the beginning and this freedom can only lead to something good. I’m trying my best not kiss anyones butt. although if I could kiss anyway a** it would be his (opps did I say that out loud) but if your a fan, you just gotta understand Prince is doing what he wants to do, regardless of what anyone says, or how things are supposed to be and you all should support that at the least.
So the next time you hear a new Prince song, or a NPG related artist you should really listen and ask yourself does Prince really need to be a commercial artist? Would this be a step forwards or backwards?

the way I see it is, there's nothing else Prince needs to prove, besides the fact he's still a bad ass musician and although Prince never really stopped making music, if he did decided to go the commercializm route, The would label him as "making a come back" ...rolleyes
