The-Dream - "Fast Car"

Andre 3000 - "Spread"

Justin Timberfake - "Sexy Ladies"

Beck - "Debra", "This Is My Crew"

Those two songs from A Goofy Movie sung by Tevin Campbell as Powerline: "Stand Out" and "Eye 2 Eye"

The Ready for the World one is probably the best tho, it gets extra points for including a Prince-associate name like "Sheila". I also like their "Love You Down" as a top shelf Prince xerox.

Yahzarah recorded a song called "Last To Leave," from her 3rd album The Ballad of Purple St. James that is - as I have always called it - the ballad Prince should have written (and should be mad he didn't).

I interviewed Yahzarah back in 2011. We did a lightening round of Q&A. I asked her, "Purple Rain, or Sign O the Times?" She picked SOTT. She's a huge Prince fan.

Also - controversial on here - Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Ladies" from his most Princesque album to date, FutureSex/LoveSounds. From the same album, "[Another Song] All Over Again" sounds like Prince in his 3121 or Planet Earth era.

I haven't heard it, but when rock legends record a spoof, it's probably worth a listen.

That's my vote too. it took me quite a while to be convinced that Prince didn't have anything to do with this one.

OH!

i thought this was about Prince recording somebody else's shit.

For me, the best was "When Will We B Paid".

Everyone lists that because of one drum sound in it that they think he sampled from "Raspberry Beret;" as if no one else could ever have a similar sound on a record without a sample. The drums aside, it's very much not a Prince sounding song. The other one on there (that I listed) is 100% more Princesque.

The songwriting and melody isnt typically prince like
But the music, the production, could be.
There are many tracks that use the same drum sounds as famous prince records
But the way its used on this one is more like prince

Even more Princey is "Madness" by Muse.

Their live rendition of "Sign O The Times" is merely epic.

November Rain a no-brainer to me. For a start the title with the Purple/Nov Rain theme. I can imagine P writing and singing those lyrics, can see him doing the Axl piano intro, the Slash guitar solo, Michael B smashing the drums...

.

You Could Be Mine, less so. Not his kind of lyrics

Natural Selection for sure.

Also, and I may be on my own with this one, but Britney Spears ‘…Baby One More Time’ has some ‘She’s Always In My Hair’ sounds to it.
There may or may not be something coming!

I'll let you off the hook for misspelling Eye 2 Eye from a Goofy Movie. As any self respecting member of The Goof Troop knows, it's actually written as "I 2 I". But that and Stand Out are definitely two of the best Prince-sounding songs of all time.

D'Angelo - Untitled (How Does It Feel) is a prime example. I've mentioned on here before that I believe that no artist has ever come close to Prince when it comes to a slowed down sexy ballad. But in fairness to D'Angelo, he actually does come extremely close with this one.

Speaking of D'Angelo, I'd also suggest that his song "Sugah Daddy" has Princey vibes too.

Intentional misspelling on my part. I wanted to emphasize how even the title is bootleg Prince.
