I hope this will be the SDE instead of Purple Rain,

would be great to finally hear some unreleased music that is not from the 80s

(okay there was Welcome 2 America, but that period is one of his least inspired imo).

To me the 'Musicology' period is his least inspired.

Literally a crap album. I'm sick of people acting like the album or--for the truly beyond saving--the single, were some sort of hallmark Prince classics.

The album sold because he inserted the price into concert tickets--a concert he went everywhere and acted like it was a retirement tour for the hits. Everyone leaving those arenas threw those CDs in the parking lot or gave them away to a friend still in the shrinkwrap.

The era was big, the tour was huge, the single flopped, and the album... was included with the price of concert tickets.

It's a shame he didn't release much better albums in 1984, 1994 or 2014.

it got a deluxe edition release. not a SUPER deluxe release.

tbh i prefer the old format of the PR and 1999 releases.

i really dont need any huge packages, but i know most fans prefer them.

'1999' was actually super, though.

Which highlights how convoluted this all is.

'1999' actually had significantly more content than the large boutique boxes with the coffee table books because it actually included two unique live concerts unlike D&P which just repeats the same concert over 3 discs.

i'm sure it's a nightmare with legal rights and all but with musicology he was
doing so many appearances and promo that they could include his grammy
performance with beyonce, his rnr hall of fame performances, reflection with
wendy, etc etc.

there's a lot to be poking the regular public with as in: remember this? yes
you do, don't you, I bet you want to own a copy of this.

great way to start a wave this year, bringing back the momentum of that era
and the re-appreciation of the general public and then in autumn hit a home
run with the PR SDE.

but to stick with Musicology. I don't think that there is a whole lot known about
the creation of this album, is there? Like no alternate configurations and such,
like with many other albums. It seems to have come pretty much from nowhere
after that very free and experimental period from 2000-2003.

would be nice to find out more about it's conception/gestation.

and of course, please for the love of god, let there be a few discs of session
tracks

Since the update in the sound/mix is pretty good, at least to me, in United States of Division,
I would also love to have Magnificent and Silver Tongue released again.

I think Glasscutter is already a new era, one of the first releases recorded for what in the end
became Lotusflow3r.
