still a mistake the truth was never released separately.

yeah i know it got a RSD release, but i think if it was actually released as a stand alone album, it would have made more people listen, and think about princes music differently, at a time when he prob could have benefitted from that. i also think its prob his best album of the 90s, or def up there in the top 5 at least, even though its mostly an acoustic thing, not a proper, full blown prince album. seeing as he released all those jazz albums after TRC, he should have done the same for this one.

I tend to think he could have given it a bit more of a push by releasing several singles off it
and backing them with 2 or 3 b-sides each, that would have been acoustic rerecordings of
some of his biggest hits.

that album to bits. It is one of my favorite albums of his."

I agree with most of what you said. Except I enjoy the Love Sign remix a little more. But, yeah, Tell Me How U Wanna B Done is probably one of three tracks in his official releases that I always skip.

It operates in shuffle mode across eras, so just consider adding a track per week or similar. There's no flow or consistency, which is why I'm indifferent about it. "Old Friends 4 Sale" stands out as the superior Vault compilation. It offers a definitive mix of Prince's work: some essential tracks, some non-essential, some lackluster, some impressive, and some just average. While plnkgame.com "Cloreen Bacon Skin" garners praise in discussions like these, I'll always favor "Tricky" if it's not already in your collection (as a B-Side).

It's so not anything close to genuinely "acoustic" which is why I never cared for it.

Andy Allo's Oui Can Luv is the one and only true Prince acoustic album.

My man.

Let's call it what it is, I'll go full gate keeper. These "Cloreen Bacon Skin" stans are simply sleeping on "Tricky" which not only delivers the funk more directly and concisely, it's got more humorous AND offensive Prince vocals than Cloreen delivers at its peak moments.

Same people getting wide-eyed at the "new" Prince "single" "United States of Division". These punk kids need to put in 8-12 hours orientation at PrinceVault before they espouse all over the internet. Get your discogs in check, this shouldn't be homework.

Ok sure, not pure acoustic, but prince cant stick to parameters like that, (imagine him trying to go unplugged), so its as close to an acoustic guitar set as he will get. And its regardless, a very very good album.

I haven't listened to it in years and years but isn't Tell Me How U Wanna Be Done just
the exact same as on the prince album, just as a stand alone, apart from The Continental?

Or is it actually a different mix?

I just listened to both and it is indeed a remix on the Crystal Ball album.

somehow that makes it ok, for me, to have it included.

All this time my gripe was that it was literally the exact same track but
I guess I never listened close enough eek biggrin

I always preferred the Crystal Ball version - it's more urgent and danceable, and could imagine that being performed (lipsynced) with P and a dancer like Mayte on something like Soul Train.
