Do it All Night
Gotta Broken Heart Again
God
Girl (b-side, not the Time song)
Slow Love
The Arms of Orion
Trust
Lemon Crush
Scandalous

Looking at my list, from 1980 through 1988 I basically liked every song Prince released with the exception of two b-sides and three album tracks. It wasn't until Batman in 1989 that I was significantly disappointed with a Prince release.

Life Can Be So Nice (noise)

La La La He He Hee (I don't get the hype)

Slow Love (just, no)

Lemon Crush (a mess)

When We're Dancing Close and Slow (just drones on)

When 2 R In Love (something else could've fit in there)

Lovesexy is my fave album of all time by any artist but I agree When 2 R In Love is the weakest link and it's crazy it survived from Black to LS

The Arms Of Orion

Both songs are great! smile

And both are my favourites.

-

My least favourite 80's songs are simply theses;

"I Love U In Me,"

"Bambi,"

"Escape,"

-

...my least favourties, because I barely listen to them.

So, this is a good reason to pick them up again, and give them a re-listen, to find out why.

It fits better on The Black Album than on Lovesexy though.
I Always get the impression that the 7 other songs on TBA are black-colored, while When2 R In Love is white.

I always thought it was on "Prince" released in 1979.
Because then, one of the worst Prince song ever is Just As Long We Are Together

I didn’t like Escape when I heard the 45 version. But once I heard the full version on the maxi single I decided I love it.

The only thing I dislike about "Bambi" is that he's in falsetto. The music just drowns out his vocals. It's always better when he's in his regular voice on it.

Yeah, I also had to go through PrinceVault to find a song I don't like all that much, furthere back than Controversy. wink

Indeed they were released as singles in the 80s, except for the first single.

Bambi was even release in Spetemeber 1980.

I don't know why i never liked Bambi...

Just As Long As We're Together is not a song i dislike. It's in the same disco-style like Kiss Me Quick. Although I like the unreleased one more.

-

I have grown so entwined with all these albums (that formed the soundtrack of my youth), that it is still hard to pick out separate songs, of which I can say, I don't like them all that much.

They have all earned their place where they are on each album.

I rarely listen to a random playlist or Best-Of compilations. Albums are like long singles to me.

I'm an old school bitch. I never got userd to play lists.

Exactly.

Musically I never like the semi hard-rock sound.

It sounded like a bad copy between Boston and Tygers Of Pan Tang, or whichever hairband at the time. wink

I will never understand what it is that people have against this song. smile

Every one his own taste of course, and I respect that.

For me, the song is really a strong composition.

It has a strong melody. The gospel part towards the end is really good early gospel Prince.

Probably it is the marching style part most don't like...

And to me, it has a really beautiful ending.

I love Free. I don't get the hate neither.
I discovered the album and the song back in the spring of 2005.
At the time, MJ risked to be sentenced to jail like for life. So as I was fan of both artists, the lyrics had a special resonance to me.

For me, it just feels cheesy and predictable, and the melody does nothing for me.

Delirious is the other popular one that I've never really warmed to.

Delirious is the only song with Insatiable where I prefer the edit single version
biggrin

From my understanding, the song got some hype on the US because some DJs on radio used to play the A-side of the album in sequence.
Hence it got huge airPlay and WB capitalized on it.

I like Free too...yes, it has some cheesey elements to it, but IMO the song prevails in spite of them...and the haunting ending is elite musicianship
