Yes Cocoa Boys sounds weird at first as we were used to the more basic boot version but actually after a few listens it works very well with horns and the other additions (maybe crowd a bit loud but...). Like his additional voiceovers and humour - the 'two man' bit made me LOL.
Nice ending bit too... Probably would have worked very well on the SOTT album itself.

What happened to The Ball seguing into Joy In Reptition as on the bootlegs? As that song was also originally done in 86. Is that being saved for the Graffiti Bridge SE or did he use the original on GB?

Eggplant works better with Wendy and Lisa IMO, more fun!
Anyone else notice the backing beat on It Be's Like That Sometimes is the same used in Violet Blue on Jill Jones's album? Nice uplifting song.

What an amazing set of songs this is. I think Vault 2 might be my favourite of the Vault albums. Blanche and Soul Psychodelicide is another 1 2 punch of funk.

Yeah, that's been puzzling me too. Can hear bits of 'The Ball', 'Eye No' and 'Gangster Glam' in there, but can't really place any of 'Lovesexy' unless he was referring to the earlier version called 'Luv Sexy'? 3121... Don't U Wanna Come?

holy shit "Blanche" is blazin hot...
Prince sounds just like Al McKay from Earth Wind & Fire on guitar... he channeled McKay's tone & rhythm feel so perfectly from the opening chords, it damn near sounds like Ew&F produced this back in 1975 with Charles Stepney and Prince

Yeah, literally every time I hear it, The Ball comes to mind. If it's not a mistake that he said it was "Lovesexy" then it really has to be a version of that song we have no idea about. I thought the tea was for "Luv Sexy" that it didn't make sense to the band or whatever? And then P came back with the version we know? IBLTS sounds really conventional to me.

...but....I do love the bootleg-version of Cocoa boys..where it's all stripped down...and he's singing those horn sections...I like it...when it is weird and not perfect [Edited 9/26/20 12:28pm]

Reading the book, it's clear now why When The Dawn Of The Morning Comes was once described as a piano ballad, not dissimilar to Free. Apparently it started out that way as a demo recorded on a boom box. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide."

Talking about similarities between "Cocoa Boys" and "Sign o the Times". I hear even that "It's a silly, no?..." melodic line in "Cocoa Boys"

I love the complete Cocoa Boys. The crowd sounds add to it because it tells the story of a band going on stage to show out. Love all the new additions and spoken parts in between.
It Be Like That Sometime = Jill Jones "Violet Blue". Wow. Threw me off guard right away...heres yet another track that was the basis for another...same with Cocoa Boys = Shockadelica/SOTT When The Dawn.... An earlier version of still unreleased "The Line". I lobe these busy loud tracks all over the vault discs. I’d love to head a slowed down version, too. (I don’t have the book yet, so I don’t know if they say anything else about it.) "Love & honesty, peace & harmony"

The rthythm of the lyrics is essentially the same as Eye No... wonder if he meant 'opening rack' rather than title track?
It's funny that P seemed to spend so much time (as in, two earlier, complete tracks) getting to Eye No. Always quite liked it in the context of Lovesexy, but never thought it was such a strong track that he must have spent a lot of time reworking it.
