Are U calling Morris Day unattractive? Because it's NOTHING wrong with the cover of his book! Plus I can't wait to read it!

How can legitimate interviews, published in other places, be put into a book? Copyrights be damned. Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me. |

Two very poor covers there. 'The Last Interview' is on Penguin Random House though, who should know better. I assume Morris is either self-publishing or on a small press? Unless that is a prototype cover for promotional purposes? |

Penguin Random House is a huge publisher, so I'm sure they have all they require legally, but yes, it is an easy (and arguably lazy) book for them. |

i could be wrong but to me it looks like they mixed a bunch of Prince's looks that did not coexist. It looks like the eyeshadow of Purple Rain, the hair of Parade with the beard of Diamonds and Pearls and the smirk of Emancipation. |

I've self-published two books. They are 100x better than that, and I had to do the artwork myself. The Original Se7en put their own record out with an indie label and the cover was better than this book. He can't call Sam Jennings, Steve Parke, or Martin Homent to get a cover done? I just cannot believe this is the actual cover, although moderator Militant confirms it is.
And if it was a prototype, God help us what the final version will look like. A prototype is a basis for what will actually be, not a generic mockup that acts as a temporary placeholder. It doesn't generate a lot of interest to be so fucking amateurish (if it was for promotional purposes, which is bogus because you don't fully start a promotional campaign without all the artwork worked out, whether the book cover, posters, online ads, fliers, etc.)
It seems for The Last Interview, it's a series and there is similar artwork for other editions. I get that, so this one isn't a stand-out Prince-only piece of cover art. There's a unified approach to the covers (good or bad).

The description of the book contains so many sloppy errors that I can't imagine the quality of the content is any better. Did anyone else read this?
. "Born in Minneapolis in 1958, Prince Rogers Nelson was one [of the] most influential artists of the last 40 years, inspiring generations of musicians that have followed in his footsteps. Beginning with his debut album in 1977, Prince released albums now considered classic until his fame reached spectacular heights in the 80s, culminating in the duel album and film PURPLE RAIN, which he directed and in which he starred. A conflict with his label led him to famously release music under his trademark symbol throughout the 90s. In the final years of his life, Prince continued to release platinum selling albums, including his 39th and final studio album HIT N RUN PHASE TWO, released only months before his untimely death on April 21, 2016. Hanif Abduraqqib is the author of the New York Times bestseller Go Ahead in the Rain: Notes to a Tribe Called Quest as well as the essay collection They Can’t Kill Us Until They Kill Us."

. Wrong. https://www.mhpbooks.com/...interview/ . The book is on a press distributed and in partnership with Penguin Random House and is being promoted by Penguin Random House. Not much of an error in my statement then. |

I've published books myself and work in the publishing industry in the UK. There is no excuse for the design being so amateur, no. And I agree it isn't particularly helpful in any respect. |

I've seen this on Amazon for a while now. I didn't even bother stopping and looking further at it, I mean that cover, there are so many books on there supposedly about Prince, I guess they all are snipping from one another. So what make this one so special? Time keeps on slipping into the future...

Hanif Abdurraqib reflects on Prince's legacy in emotional new book intro
.
The following is an excerpt from PRINCE: The Last Interview, a collection that cobbles together the first, last, and best interviews Prince conducted across his 40-year-career. The book’s introduction, which you can read below, is a tribute to the musical legend by Hanif Abdurraqib, the poet and essayist who most recently published a book on A Tribe Called Quest called Go Ahead in the Rain.
