All About Spike Lee's Symbolic Oscars Look, from 'Love' and 'Hate' Rings to His Prince Tribute https://people.com/style/..._peoplemag
Spike Lee is letting his jewelry do the talking at the Academy Awards.
The BlacKkKlansman director, 61, showed off two large knuckle rings — one emblazoned with “LOVE” and the other with “HATE” — as he walked the red carpet at the 2019 Oscars. The rings are a bit of movie history — they were important props during an iconic moment in Lee’s 1989 film Do the Right Thing.............

His purples don't match. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Thanks for posting, purplethunder3121!! Night of the Hunter, The Bad Seed, and Cape Fear (originals) were the most attractive/scariest movies of my childhood.

I listened to a Spike Lee interview the other day and he said that the LOVE and HATE rings were inspired by Night of the Hunter.
Edit: PS: Just saw another, very brief red carpet interview where he mentioned Night of the Hunter again while talking about his rings. And probably why he put them in his movie Do the Right Thing too. Go figure.

Although I LOVED BAD 25 and watched it the first night they showed it and the day after, I agree. |

No artist's big night is complete these days without a mean tweet from the President.

It’s interesting that his love symbol necklace is closer to the symbol that Prince used in Purple Rain and various tours up to 1992 and not the more complicated version that he used for his unpronounceable name. "Love & honesty, peace & harmony" |

Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!
And no award show is complete these days without a mean dig at the President.
That's nothing new, although Lee was not mean - or racist. Artists have gotten political at the Oscars for decades.
The new part is the guy in the White House who watches TV day and night, and thinks his tweets are Presidential.

Oh please, nothing is disturbing about it, and if Spike didn't say anything, then why did the President reply? Spike, among many others took digs at the President about the wall and immigration, as usual, what show were you watching? |

I was fortunate enough to attend The Grown Up Awards a couple a weeks ago with Spike as he won an Award for his latest project "Blackkklansman". I'm glad that he's STILL honoring Prince's legacy in the RIGHT WAY like I knew he would.
