It's no big loss. That album is mostly garbage anyway. I still don't like to see it get removed though because it's not a good sign. What else is going to get removed?

It's not my favorite album but it does make you wonder what they may remove next. I saw that Phase II is still there.

I do like the majority of it. It was just a different sound for him.

don't joke about that evil

lol

nah, seriously, i was sort of hoping that HNR1 disappearing might be to do with tidal
since they were the first ones to distribute it online and we know that they have one
more album in the works (at least, they did, until everything went quiet), so it might
be a sign that things are moving.

but that's just nonsense, isn't it. it's gonna be just a glitch and it will be back up on
spotify tomorrow and that'll be it.

That happens with streaming... FREQUENTLY.

Buy physical copies or downloads you can back up if you don't like it.

Or, bitch every time this happens. Whatevs...

Yeah, some of you are still slaves to that streaming model? Where somebody else (or rather, somecorporation else) controls what you can listen to, and tells you what to listen to?

Come on people, get with the program and dump that dated shit.

Cannot understand why anyone who cares about music would use streaming sites....

Anyone heard of Vox? Cheap subscription, upload your own music, play it anywhere... phone, laptop, desktop....

I do this plus I have physical hard drives with all my music on. My music collection is literally available to me wherever I am, for £45 per YEAR.

Nobody controls my music collection except me.

Not this conversation again... i own Every Prince on Cd or Vinyl. But i don't travel with them everywhere or when i'm working or at family's house or whatever.. i use streaming because it's useful and you can listen to ALMOST everything whenever you want.

When i'm home of course i play my records.

Seems like it's a conversation that needs to be had again.

So, you can UPLOAD all your own music (including all the boots, mixes etc that would never be on a streaming site) to your own streaming account (on Vox) so you don't have to 'carry' it with you, but it's available to you wherever you go, maintained in the quality you uploaded it at (eg FLAC), all for less than half the price of a streaming service, that doesn't interest you?

Hmm'kay.

That way you are NOT supporting the artist on Streaming platforms. And even if old folks here won't are out of touch with reality streaming IS the way music gets out there right now.

Bigger streaming numbers = more possiblity of new releases. They don't even need to make physical copies anymore (SALDY BECAUSE I LOVE PHYSICAL MEDIA). But i would prefer new Prince music on Streaming all the time than a CD every once in a while.

Well, it's the consumers who dictate the market, not the other way around.

People forget that. No, I have no interest in 'supporting' the artist via streaming. Haha, that's ridiculous.

Streaming is just the record companies' newest way of screwing over the artists anyway.

Again, it comes from a mindset of allowing the corporations to spoon feed you what they want...something I will never understand.

This was more about ways to control your music library. I don't depend on the corporations and thier streaming services, A: because they serve up music in shitty quality, and B: because they will pull any and every album because a contract expires, a better deal is done, etc...

I buy the physical product, I buy the vinyl first and foremost, I buy the CDs... I have no guilt there - and if you still think physical product is on the way out, think again. And this has nothing to do with age, it's about seeing beyond whatever the latest fad is... they said vinyl was dead, what did they know?

I'm struck by that first sentence of yours... the very IDEA that I should use streaming services to support the artist, is just bizarre.

Well I admit I subscribed to Tidal solely because Prince was putting new music on their site and they had the exclusives at the time. I ended up enjoying their service. I listen to my music on all formats but I like the variety that I get with the streaming services and that I can make playlists with artists who's albums I don't own physical copies of. I saw that someone asked Prince on twitter how he listened to music and he said that they usually listened on Tidal. smile

i've been on spotify premium for about 3 years now and that's literally never happened to me.

and i play 90% of my music at home from spotify now, eventho i have almost my entire music
collection on my harddrive and on back ups. it's just easy and most things are on spotify, that
i have in my library. except for prince bootlegs and the odd really weird release.

the only time an album or a song has gone missing or hasn't been available for a while is with
the prince catalogue. but that's more to do with prince and now the estate than the services,
at least that's my guess since i never have that problem with any other artist.

I have all the physical copies of Prince music, and I still enjoy Spotify. It's a really cool streaming site.I'm able to listen and explore music that I don't already have in my music library.I'm as "old school" as they come (lol) but even I see how much fun and convenient streaming can be.
