The one in the article is the 1999 metallic trench, the Purple Rain trench is a different material

This thread reminds me of my all time favorite photo/poster of Prince--used to have it but got rid of it as I had too many posters...

Anyway, love this one--to me, it captures the undecipherable essence of Prince...
