Every show after a certain point was shot on video as Prince liked to review each show after to make sure it went down to his liking. That's what's reported, at least.

Actually most of it was shot at Paisley. He’s lip syncing the vast majority to actual live performances. That’s the reason it’s a Concert Movie & Not Live.
