Thank you! I did a Google search but couldn't seem to find it. As a busy Mom of a toddler and infant I don't have a lot of extra time and I just thought this was more efficient to ask here. I was actually looking for the article for someone. But thank you.

Since we are on this topic, many years ago on the org (10+), there was a Doctoral student that was dissecting the imagery of Prince's music, lyrics and album covers, and he had posted his written papers here. I can't remember all of it, but I do recall it involving Prince imagining himself as a little dog boy, visually portrayed as the dog on the madhouse album covers and it discussed the symbolism of the songs coming out around this period that all tied in with this theme. It was very insightful writing, even having timestamps in various songs that corroborated this intricate concept. It was fascinating at the time, and I am hoping some other long timer here remembers these posts and/or even have a copy of the published works for us to read again. I know I am getting old, but I hope my mind and memory is not playing tricks on me. I want to believe that I didn't dream up this topic, because that someone who seemed to have personal knowledge of songs P was writing at the time (if it wasnt him posting himself under a fake name) had very interesting theories I wanted to re-explore.
