Behind the 'opium' bag photo you can see a row of tapes that seem in chronological order from Aug/Sept 86:

Crucial
Cocoa Boys (note the spelling)
When the break of morning comes
Housequake
Slow love
Letter 2 Miles
Can I play with U

I would also bet a lot of 2000s-and-on stuff is digitally stored. Not sure if he still used tape.

Great point. I thought it looked a bit 'thin' in there.

It's the Euro / NPG CD of Hey Man, Smell My Finger. Why there are two copies just sitting there is weird, though...

It's also weird that they're still sitting there 23 years after it came out.

Thanks for the info, kdavis! I've never seen that cover before. I like it better than the U.S. Hey Man cover.

My guess is 2 inches reel tapes.

These are multi-tracks, meaning each track is separated.
DAT tapes are used for stereo reduction and mastering.

Must have been recorded on some bad mofo like these.

It seems that there are not so much real unknown material from the 80's...confirmation that the large part of this material is in circulation for years among collectors and fans!

There are just a few of these pics where we can barely read titles.
What makes you so sure?
Also, if you already had NC2U in this quality, why didn't you share?
Get out...

It is kinda a cool time capsule of technology - the early 80s stuff is on giant tape reel boxes, then the mid-80s gets a bit thinner, then you get to the 90s/00s and the plastic cases all fit in a neat metal shelf.

.

Won't lie, the whole box of Kamasutra CDs made me chuckle. That's the kind of stuff they should put in the store.

Whoever mentioned 'time capsule' was right. It's like PP and the The Vault was srtuck in the 90s. It really looks like the Gangster Glam video. Chome fittings, VHS cassettes, v old computers with CRT screens, etc. Takes me back...

If that's what P wanted, then cool. It just feels a bit odd.

I don't think he had the time to think about interior design (obvs), but there's something a bit sad (maybe not the right word) about him being 'stuck' in a time, or an era. It can't have helped as he watched the rest of the world change so much and seem so, so far away from his day-to-day existence in PP.

Anyway back on topic. I hope there a many beta tapes hiding under all those old unreliable VHS cassettes. It's a far, far better source of high quality footage than what collectors are used to working with...

[Edited 4/20/18 3:36am]

He had some kind of mental block with dealing with the past, even with preserving those recordings better. Yes it's sad but it was his right.

The box above "Come LP" has "DATs and cassettes" written on its top.

Bottom box says "Batman Custom". You can also see some of the labels - one says "... Dance Co. ... et Score MASTER" - parhaps the Joffrey Ballet? The other says "... EP 12/98"
