Lenny Kravitz on Prince (Rolling Stone)

.

Great article written by Rolling Stone; it came out just after Prince had passed. Lenny is such a genuine & down-to-earth guy and he had a wonderful friendship with Prince.

.

Lenny:

.

I never saw a huge difference between the private person and the public persona with Prince. I saw one person. When you were with him he could be serious or he could be incredibly funny and goofy, which is the side I always liked because we used to laugh and talk. I remember one time being at his house and watching a Chris Rock special and we just laughed and laughed. I remember another time hanging out with him and Dave Chappelle. He loved having talented people like that around, whether they were musicians or artists or dancers or comedians. But he had this great sense of humor.

I hadn't heard this tribute before, but I really like it. It's very tastefully done.

Change it one more time..

I really hate asking this but I am somewhat curious; do you suppose Lenny knew something about P's consumption of pills or whatever else? He mentioned that Prince dodged a bullet during that episode on the plane. I feel he might have known something by that comment alone.

Yea, I wonder that too. He could have just been reacting to the news in the press at the time. I'm not really sure Lenny knew what was going on in Prince's personal life. We just don't know. Lenny didn't really want to talk about it.

i never got into this guy's music, but i always respected his game... kinda like a New York Knicks fan that begrudgingly respects Michael Jordan..

Yea, me too; I'm not a huge fan of Lenny, but he wrote some really good songs and he was a good friend to Prince. A good guy.
