Dionne.

(Guitar)Pew. Pew. Pew. Pew.

Da da da da da da da da da da!

I love it!

No member of the Animal Kingdom makes it past maturity.

NO member of the Animal Kingdom ever did a thang to me.

Why I don't eat red meat or white fish...don't give me no bleu cheese.

Music is awesome on Animal Kingdom, too.

I appreciate all of Prince's experimental departures from his signature sound. I do think this suffers some from the uneveness of the quality of the songs, especially the songwriting. In the tradition of folk music, the relatively laid back nature of the acoustic guitar allows for more attention to be placed on the actual words. Here, that is not necessarily a good thing. Still, I am glad to have it and I play it occasionally. I prefer the departure of One Night Alone much better.

I like it. Actually purchased the Crystal Ball set with The Truth and Kamasutra. As close to 'Unplugged' as we ever got, except for the Musicology acoustic set.

This, and I love his performance of "Don't Play Me" at the Webby Awards as well as during the One Night Alone Tour aftershows.

I think it's alright. I would probably give it a 5 or 6 out of 10. I find it difficult to listen to the entire album from start to finish. I LOVE "One of Your Tears" and really like the songs "The Truth" and "Comeback". I also like "Animal Kingdom" (although I do drink milk and eat meat) since I appreciate its creature-conscious message.

How is "One of Your Tears" not getting more love on this thread?!

Holy FUCK I love this album! For my money, I think I'd go ahead a call it his BEST post-Warner album.

.

"Fascination" is perhaps my favorite among many great songs, what a cool melody. Mike Scott's solo is da bomb. Love the lyrics too.

.

Still such a great album to play for people who think they know Prince enough to say they don't like him. I've changed numerous people's minds - or at least piqued their interest - by playing this over the years.

.

And I am among those who happen to ADORE "one of your tears" -- largely for that "used condom" line (classic) but also because P's VOCALS... I mean, my God, his vocals on the entire album...

.

"The Other Side of the Pillow" is another fave here. Just a great song.

I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

It should get a lot more love. It's brutally honest and dark lyrics really stand out. His singing during hte line "I am not worth the air I breathe"...damn.

It's a grower but I learned to really love it.

Welcome 2 The Dawn is as good a song as Prince ever wrote, and the arrangement is stunning, especially the vocals.

The title song, Don't Play Me, Circle of Amour, Dionne, Man in a Uniform, really just a strong album from start to finish.

I LOVE OOYT! I wonder about whom he wrote it. I have no idea. Yeah, the "better than the used condom that you sent me/baby that was wrong" is really poignant. His vocals on the track fit the lyrics perfectly. I think he uses the perfect mix of acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and keyboards.

The story is, true or not, that it's about Carmen Electra.

I going to give it a short and sweet point of view. Prince was talking about Mayte Garcia. Only if you tell the truth. One of the lines in the song. The ticking time represents. Oh! You're time is up! This would be the time you told the truth eek
