Personally I didn't want to see Prince play any covers, he had enough songs of his own that he didn't play. I hated the part of the concert where he'd say he had too many hits and then tease the names of a few songs which he wasn't goign to play. Fair enough Prince, but why the fuck did you just spend ten minutes on Play That Funky Music White Boy if you got too many hits.

RIP sad

I didn't mind the live covers as much as the recorded ones, though.

I threw on a 21 Nights London audience recording a few days ago and heard Prince cover "Long and Winding Road" - WOW, what a version!!!

I can't remember which night it was but a google search should find it

I’m sure he’s recorded so many covers it’s nuts. We know there’s a studio version of Fight The Power, Best Of You & probably every other song he liked.

I've always thought a nirvana song would be cool just to see what he would have done with it.

Surely the only answer to this is Closer by Nine Inch Nails. I can just imagine P doing this with a funky slap bass line, and lasciviously sweetly singing the lyrics before unleashing a searing solo. He'd take it from sleazy to sexy, and if anyone was born to sing that infamous chorus then it's him.

Stuff from the Beach Boys. If anyone could harmonize with them, it was Prince.

I’m sure there are tons of covers in the vault stuff. You know he probably recorded his favorite stuff just for fun.

New York State of Mind, on the piano, using his full vocal range and adding a few screams. One of my all time favorite songs; the only thing that could make it better is Prince vocals. 💜
