Yes, some believe that Prince died shortly after Purple Rain came out, and because of his rising popularity and success, they used a body double, LOL lol

.

I think the time he took too many aspirins and had too much red wine and Mayte found him passed-out, in 1996 (I think) is a true story. Although I don't think it was intentional.

Now that Prince has died it's odd to think of all the tragic death or suicidal references in his music/art.

For example... Christopher Tracy dying in UTHCM, to the Kids hanging in PR, or his father shooting himself in the head. Someone mentioned at the end of "Gotta Broken Heart Again" there's a gunshot (which is something I didn't think of), I Would Die 4 U, Facedown, the song "Goodbye", etc

I recall Prince in an interview saying his musical gift was "like a curse," He didn't sleep much. Perhaps Prince was dealing with a more demonic spirit than we realize.

There were so many suicidal references all through out. I know the one that gets me, is the ending of the Empty Room video, where he just drops dead. sad

But that doesn't mean he was suicidal or something like that. I don't know, maybe it was just a subject he liked to talk about. Maybe raising awerness.

Of course, none of us know what his mindset was during certain times of his life, but I think someone would've said if they felt that Prince maybe was suicidal at one point.

Yes this did happen.

I remember getting on the bus that morning and there were girls crying and I asked what happened and they said Prince was dead. What was really interesting was she said that he was starting his movie soon. That movie was Purple Rain.

I don't know how Prince felt inside. It's just interesting thinking about these things now that he's past. I think his gift was both a blessing and a curse. I don't think he could stop making music even if he wanted to. He never slept well. And he dealt with his personal demons like we all do. His journey makes me think we should all be careful what we wish for. And be thankful for the lives we have. All these celebrities people look up to and they're dying young, overdosing, and just not happy. ie Whitney, MJ, George Michael, Amy Winehouse and so many others... sad

That rumor did make the rounds because I asked a friend who had moved away about their thoughts on Prince and his upcoming movie and he asked "Didn't he o.d.?"

BTW that MJ, James Brown, and Prince video is fake.

The video where MJ calls Prince up on-stage and Prince plays the guitar, then walks-off, grabbing a lamp post that wasn't affixed to the floor? lol

There are always death hoaxes for the popular celebs. Of course, it could not be done secretly. But it's not secret! He died secretly and was replaced secretly! But you talk about it! But it's a secret! Does that make ANY sense? People are just damned gullible. That silliness in the link above, some here took seriously. How embarrassing.

But the one common thread is Vanity (Denise Matthews). I remember they broke up in 1983. Could it be that she was his true love? As far a the body double argument, it seems plausible if you listen to his music. Prince's music radically changed after 1999 album. I wasn't expecting Purple Rain (Rock), or ATWIAD, or Parade.

[Edited 1/16/18 20:26pm]

I think her leaving the Purple Rain project and Prince himself was an impact. I get ragged about it but I will always believe she was the one who got away and impacted in profoundly til the day he died.I think her death impacted him profoundly too. (ready for the eggs/tomatoes / eye rolls etc.)

Prince was devestated by Vanity's passing. The fact that he passed not too long after, speaks in volumes. I think he always loved Vanity, but their relationship would have never lasted, because of their careers and they were both very strong-headed people.

there was also a time in 1994 (i think) when the song with the words "Prince esta muerto" on The Gold Experience had people thinking he had passed on. as i recall, a local radio station in San Francisco played just those words and caused a firestorm of a reaction from fans. i was living in San Francisco at the time, and there were reports of traffic jams on the bridge and calls to the local radio stations due to people thinking he had actually passed on.

I remember this! It was the radio station Wild 94.9 mad they announced one morning that "Prince is dead" and it caused an uproar here in the Bay Area. This was right before the release of TGE.

Well . . . the truth is stranger than fiction and I will always believe they remained close friends and confidantes throughout their lives.

The lamp post was clearly fake, any real lamp post would not have come loose like the one in the video. I have no reason to believe anything else I see in such an obvioulsy staged scenario.
