True or false: there is something to love on every Prince album This is pretty much how I feel. I don't really include instrumental albums like NEWS or Xpectation, as personally, I don't enjoy instrumental music.
But in terms of his regular studio albums, even the NPGMC albums have songs like When Eye Lay My Hands On U, Supercute, U Make My Sunshine and Hypnoparadise. My question is, in your opinion, is there a Prince album without any redeeming qualities, where you can honestly say you wouldn't miss at all if it never existed? [Edited 1/16/18 1:53am]

TRUE! back in the days when I thought there would be new prince music forever I was so picky ... didn't give a song more than 2 or 3 chances to grow on me ... never shelved an entire album but there were some with only 1 or 2 songs I really liked. now I'd say: there's wayyyyyy more than "something" to love on every prince album! the only love there is is the love we make ![]()

There are gems on every album without exception.

I don't even have Rave and HitNRun 1, so I guess that answers your question.

True, it's all about getting into his mindset on an album. If you go in wanting your own previous favourite Prince album then you're going to be disappointed, as every critic discovered from 1988 until his death. [Edited 1/16/18 4:47am]

They're not my favourite albums either but don't you rate I Love U But Don't Trust U Anymore, 1000 X's & O's and June? . Planet Earth is really weak to me but Somewhere Here On Earth and Future Baby Mama are great songs IMO so I think yes; there is always at least 1 or 2 gems on every album. . One album I wouldn't miss is The Slaughter House; no real gems but couple decent tracks in 2045: Radical Man and Hypnoparadise

Great point. I concur. | |

I think that can be said about 'most' or 'many' albums in general
After Batman, Rainbow Children was the 1st/last Prince album I love from beginning to end

It wasn't until just a couple of years ago that I bought Musicology. I just did not like it. I'm still not a fan of it. The title track is fun, but it feels like a demo. It's missing some bottom in it. I maybe have listened to it all the way through one time. If you have a problem with me, text me. If you don't have my number, you don't know me well enough to have a problem with me.

nah...please listen again...the title song is a masterpiece...Prince exploring classical music...the whole song shifts and simmers and builds...it always reminded me of "Tchaikovsky: Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy"...the trademark Prince synthesizers in the last 2 minutes is epic...

How can you not love "Last December"? An absolutely gorgeous song. Wish he revisited it more, but he pretty much ignored that album after 2004.
I think Musicology is a great record - "Cinnamon Girl," "Call My Name," Illusion, Coma, Pimp and Circumstance," the title song, etc.
Honestly, I need to give Hitnrun Phase 1 another listen. I hated it from start to finish, even "June" didn't click with me.

True....dang it, I mean false. I was just about to hit "Enter" after typing "True" and then I remembered Hit and Run Pt. 1.
