Nice story about 5 sealed copies of the US 1987 TBA found after exactly 30 years.

A Remarkable Discovery

This example is one of five sealed copies discovered in December 2017, in the collection of a former Warner Bros. Records executive who worked on The Black Album. The executive’s daughter had purchased her first turntable and asked her parents to send her some albums. Their record collection had been boxed up in a closet for more than 25 years, and while searching for records that might interest their daughter, they stumbled upon two never-opened Warner Bros. Records mailers. Expecting to find some promo albums inside, they opened these for the first time and discovered five perfect, sealed copies of The Black Album. These had been sent to the executive in December 1987 when the albums were ordered destroyed, and for 30 years, the two mailers had sat unopened among their other boxed up vinyl.

You're right on some levels.

There are also uncataloged copies on gray (or white?), and some on peach vinyl given to WB executives. Those, if they even exist, are priceless (to me).

any decent sounding one is worth $10... what gets me is when they are being sold for $100 that gets me...


Like the NPGMC download albums that someone made on CDs and are being sold as "rare" well yeah they are rare but they are counterfeit... (as I suspect most of the WAR and One Night Alone Paino..." are).

So a CD of the slaughterhouse is worked $10 maybe $20 MAX...

I was in the army and there were copies... several people had it on CD from Germany. Some seemed to not know or believe they were bootlegs. But I also had a few copies of the famous vinyl from Erotic City Record with the photo of Prince in black on a black sleeve.
