No, I really think if he wanted one he would have had this done while he was alive. I recall that money was raised once by some fans and still turned it down. So I really think he did not want one.

I believe the University of Minnesota is awarding him a honorary degree which he knew about before he passed he accepted with a request that a scholarship be set up for a music student from his old neighborhood.

True! Many don't know the person has to pay for theirs. I believe there is is a guy that does go around cleaning (removing gum etc) and then polishing the Brass Star monthly. He does a big loop if I remember the article correctly, and, I thought he worked for the city.

He certainly was a class act. Interesting about him turning down fan's offer if that's true. But HERE is, I believe the final word: You know how Prince communicates with me and all. Through various means. Well I didn't get a chance to say this because I've had appointments today but right after I posted my last post here this morning, I put down my phone for a few minutes, and went I picked it back up to log back onto Prince.org, you know the sayings at the top of the page each time we log in or switch to a different forum etc.? Well this is what mine said, and I've never gotten this one before: "WHY SETTLE FOR A STAR, WHEN YOU CAN HAVE THE SUN?" I KID YOU NOT. This was Prince's way of telling me he doesn't want a Star on the Hollywood Walk, and it is my duty to pass this information on no matter what I feel or think. In fact, I agree, with some more thought on the matter. 🙂💜

But... the sun... is..a star...

Just a much bigger one.

In that song he's just talking about smaller stars in comparison to him.

The only difference between the stars is the center icon. Some are for movies, music, TV, etc.

For Prince, I'd say he needs to stick to the music icon.

For someone like Will Smith, LL Cool J, Cher, even Madonna - then a second star with a TV or movie icon. That's not to say that they're all AMAZING in those roles, but they have contributed enough to be counted as actors.

I think he was happy enough with his star on First Ave which is more iconic and meaningful.

I agree not to have a star for him there, but PR was a significant film that should e acknowledged for the art and amazing music it was.
