Good catch! I hadn't looked up those lyrics in a while. They've been updated. Oh, our man was still a pimp in some regard at that time - and loving it! I think in his last months though, he got really reflective. Accepting that things don't always work out. Was just listening to the PAAM (last show) yesterday and heard him say, "Relationships. Sometimes they don't always work out." Then he sang in the next song something like, "You think you feel it? Well I feel it too." I think he began to be accepting of a lot between December 2015 & his passing. Like a mature man, he might've stopped trying to force things.

I never understood how people liked Phase One more than Phase 2 wheich was more obviously heart felt and real Prince. As well, the last sexy slow jam he has put out "Revelation" is on it, one of his last guitar stompers "Screwdriver" and last funk jam "Stare" all on one album. On top of that great songs like "Groovy Potential" and "When She Comes" stand out of this great collection. Don't understand why fans looked it over.

Totally agree with you here, Phase2 was a labour of love by Prince.

Love the song and his hints of vulnerability. Its one of the few songs in which he talks about the age difference with his women.

Prince has never given away much about how he truly feels in song. With some of the tracks on this album (notable Way Back Home), it seemed like he was being genuinely vulnerable and heartfelt lyrically for the first time. Would have loved a whole album from him in this vein...

Me too, instead he left behind him pieces of himself here and there throughout almost 40 years.

I always skip the title track, I think it is one of the few absolutely unlistenable songs in Prince´s career. I can´t even stand to listen to it for a few seconds.

Gold Standard has interesting music but the lyrics bore me and don´t make me want to listen to the song again despite the funky music. FunkNRoll I can listen to sometimes but it is not exactly a song I like, no matter which version.

Time on the other hand has a very nice slow tempo, the vocal delivery is, in my opinion, a bit reminiscent of If I Was Your Girlfriend (SOTT movie version), I like the lyrics of longing and yearning to be with your partner, and I think Andy and Prince had a strong bond and chemistry together. Couldn´t stand her as a band member miming on the guitar but she was definitely a strong muse and inspiration and I like her version of We Can Funk.

The slap bass part in Time is nice.....but not my main reason for liking the song so much.

But that´s the beauty of Prince´s talent....different songs for different people.

Time is a bit boring but I like it a little. It's saved from complete obscurity but that bass.
