You should probably read the article again because it does state that some of the money will go towards paying the estate tax bill. Granted, Omarr DOESN'T HAVE TO designate any funds from this venture to the estate as it is true, this is separate and apart from the estate (sort of, as he did obtain licensing from the estate for use of the name New Power Soul as this group's name) But it's suspect either way and the idea to do this is VERY ill-advised. Again, I gotta ask what did Omarr do for a living before Prince died? My guess is Prince was supporting him financially and then when estate got tied up in probate, he's become desperate for cash and came up with this hair-brained idea.

Read carefully. The money is not going to the estate. This is Omarr's project, and Omarr alone. He is doing this independently of the estate, so the $$ will all be his.

I thought I was disheartened by NPG and Revolution touring without Prince. this takes the cake however. Prince must have been paying for everything for his half-bro while he was alive. Becuase now that he is dead and his fortune is tied up in probate, Omar resorts to his lunacy to get money. Does anyone actually think this band will make any money for the estate, especially when Prince music is available on Spotify, Amazon etc. Its not all of his music or concerts (which is very unfortunate) but it is certainly the same music these folks are probably going to cover in their little "tribute" band. This impersonater might be really talented but I have never liked the concept of impersonaters. they are nothing but caricatures most of the time (which is okay for comedy, but not much else) and the imagery they are projecting on this poster of this Prince substitute is skeevy and creepy. For one, he is not delicate enough or young enough looking to pull off that look. And the look is a badly derivative version of Graffiti Bridge Prince. (Prince pulled it off--this dude does not.) Appearance-wise, he looks like the tommy Wiseau (god awful, tacky actor and director ofthe worst film ever made the Room) of Prince impersonators.

Also Prince is irreplacable. Period.

Remember Omar lives in the house that prince gave to his mom, the estate wanted to sell that house and Omar had to go to court, he said he took care of his mom, while living in the house with her(at no cost of course) so he had the right to stay in the house forever...also, no one is going to buy this music, or go see it live...except for maybe a bus of senior citizens in Branson Missouri...so we know Omar will not need an account for this venture, there will be no profits, this will be one of those "pay a bunch of money to become a top model" type of deals, in other words...this is a money down the toilet investment...Omar if you are listening STOP!

Well maybe if it fails he will actually look for new bands and orignal music. Sometimes you have to fall on your fact to learn

Yes, Omarr lives in the home P built for his mother and her husband*.
But anyone who wants to stay in the homes that P provided had to buy them from the estate.
There was no provision to gift the homes.
That goes for Kirk, Omarr, Tyka and anyone else.
Interestingly, if you check who lived at the home on Dakota, it seems that the Huntsberrys lived there for years after Big Chick died.
.
If P wasn't kicking people out, why do we care?
.
*off-topic: I always thought maybe Haywood Baker got a bad rap until I read that he complained about their new free house being "too small". sad
.
I think Paisley needs to open up classes for students.
Omarr's idea is basically good EXCEPT for that impersonator.
Don't try to recreate Prince OR his music.
.

Well maybe, but you actually have to have some skills in the field you choose, the music business is cut throat, and he has zero experience, just because his brother was a mega super star does not qualify him in anyway, as evidenced by "New Power Soul". He obviously thinks that prince passing in some way has given him some insight into the making and marketing of music, and it is annoying and frankly embarrassing to princes legacy, although not really because maybe a couple hundred people will even know about it...It just rubs my ass how prince included none of his family in the making or marketing of any of his music, ever, and now they pretend they were princes sounding board for all things musical, and thank god Omar has stepped up to "save" paisley park...they are his family, and they are going to get all his money, and rightfully so, which will be a life altering windfall for each and everyone of them...so can they not just leave the music to people who actually know what they are doing, and stop with all the self indulgent side projects and hair brained ideas....please

No No No, it looks cheap, the idea sucks and nobody is interested in these people or their music.

They should open the studio doors for young fresh new talent, who write, play and record their own music and teach young kids the arts and crafts of making music.

That's what P would have wanted, not this shit.... wink

They did that with the battle of the bands in September. Which I think maybe his
Brainchild too. So that is something in regard to using PP for new talent. But this other I'm not sure of seems sad from the out. But.....?

They can find people to help them run things. Remeber Russell Simmons and Barry Gordy did not know anything about running a record company when they started.
