Upcoming Books......

Since there are new books coming out, one in November and the other in february I think, do you buy them? Who's book would you read? Prince is dead for over a year now, I'm pretty sure there will be more books. Let's say that Sheila E would write a book, Wendy & Lisa or Morris Day, would you buy them?

I personally think that everybody would have the right to write a book, unless there's a contract that says otherwise. Because it's also their story they should have the right to do it.

Now, what would you want to read? Would you be more interested in books about the man behind the music, or should they be like Hahn's "The Rise of Prince."

I think that there are enough books focusing on his music, it would be great to read other personal stories besides Mayte's book (wich I really enjoyed reading it). I think a lot of people want to know more about the man.

Let me know what you think about it.

I wouldn't expect Sheila to delve deeper into their relationship than she already has with another book. I would really be interested in hearing from:

Jill

Andre

Morris

Alan Leeds

Jerome

Don't rule Sheila out. If she can make a buck, she will.

LATIN posted this interview on another thread.

DAVE: It has been reported that you put aside a more traditional (dance) album in order to bring this project to life. And, in the year leading up to this album, you released a touchingly beautiful single that you wrote in tribute to Prince entitled, “Girl Meets Boy”. Not fitting the ideal context of a record like this, do you think it may one day find a permanent home on another album of yours?

SHEILA: The dance record will come out in the near future, although somewhat different than originally planned. However, the song “Girl Meets Boy” is part of another album set that I don’t know if or when I will release. It was written as a memoir of sorts to a person whom I loved deeply and lost too soon. I’m not sure if those memoirs will remain between just him and I, or if it’s something meant for everyone. Right now I feel as if those songs are sacred to us, something I have left that’s just ours. Maybe one day I’ll be ready to let go and release the full album. Until then, I’ll just hold on a little longer.

Im more interested in who Prince became..

I think Ive got a handle on who he WAS back in the day...

so WHatever Jill, Andre Allen etc have to say

would really only reflect their time with him, limited to the 80s and 90s

Im looking forward to Erica Thompson,s book, that shes been researching for a few years

and

Kim Berry,s Diamonds and Curls...

Thats the ONE imo that will give us great depth and clarity

since SHE was always in his hair....

lol lol lol lol lol

I also read that Wally Safford is writing a book. It will be a book about his story but he told someone on his FB page that he also plans to talk a bit about Prince.

I agree, lovejunky. I would love to read more about his later years. I look forward to Kim's book, and given that she was his hairstylist, Diamonds and Curls is a perfect title.

.

There is a thread about Kim's appearance on The Prince Podcast, during which she mentiones her upcoming book: http://prince.org/msg/7/440397.

It seems there is a curious mix of feeling very Protective

and inquisitve at the same time...

Personally..I know that If I had known him, I would be desperate to share

what I knew of him for the simple reason He was SO Great ,and talking about him'

makes you feel so good...

Larry Graham would be probably the only person I wouldn't want to hear from. But as Prince said: "Different strokes for different folks." confused

Really???? From what Mayte said in her book which was the most flattering she
Said that Larry truly has lost his friend. So she felt the friendship ,however she felt about it, was a true friendship. That the care was genuine. So just that makes it worth a read. And it was a significant portion of Princes life and if this person was important to P I deem it worthy to read. But yes 'diff strokes..."

Well maybe he really was a good friend to P. But I don't like the way he came into his life, I know it was P's decision but still.......

Thank you. The first volume covers 1983-84 and the 220+ sessions during that period. Doing the final formatting tweaks this week and then the publisher has it and starts gearing up for the release in November.

Again, thank you for your support on this. If this does well, I will be creating more volumes. I've already started drafting up the 1985-86 sessions for book 2.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/
