I became a huge fan of this song after watching Prince perform it live on opening night of the Musicology Tour in 2004. Prince had it broadcast live to many theatres around the country and it was great. Since then I have seen other shows from this toour and it is always great.

It (The NPG-Remix) was included on the limited "Come On" EP sold only via internet by NPG Records (got it together with "The War" CDS back in these days).

After that it was only included in some bootleg release.

On opening night. When it came to the line "My Mayte"..he just screamed. It was very effective.

I don't think it was exactly in those words, but along those lines, so it had a much deeper meaning for him, regardless of whether he was with Mayte or not.

Song is perfection, everything is perfect there falsetto, npg orchestra, fretless bass guitar, Mayte idea for a video, fact that Prince & Mayte shared the passion around this time, this is P at his peak imo... but does Prince has a bad ballad?
