Yeah, but the 90s NPG did their own version, which I fucking adore. Sonny's singing, but that's cool.

Back to the OP: "Dance Electric" is definitely a WTF moment, but Andre is his friend, and frankly he did need a song. Andre has great talent, but his albums are just ......bland sometimes. Let's face it, A.C. wouldn't have sold what it did were it not for "The Dance Electric". All tea, no shade.

"Chocolate" really is a Time song, for sure, but "100 MPH" is such a "fuck you" feel to it, that he should have put it out himself. I love the live rehearsals for "The Sex of It" from the Lovesexy rehearsal audio that came out long ago.

The NPG version is alright, but it doesn't compare to the original (or Martika's version, for that matter).

I always remember him telling Eric Leeds on that one, "If I give you a groove, you've got to give me some heart". It was really interesting. But I love that entire rehearsal and need find it and listen to it again.

These would be nothing other than uneventful obscurities if released himself or left to a PP artist.

interesting someone mentions Get It Up - prince is all over that track! - obvs Morris is on lead, but to me i doubt there is a Prince only version as Morris and Prince worked quite closely together on the classic early Time cuts. If there is a Prince only version it's probably only a scratch demo.

I always though Get Blue may of been a minor hit for Prince

there are some songs that fit the assosiated artist quite well, and i'm happy he gave them away

like Yo Mister, for instance.

.....aaah the genius of Prince.....

I know what y'all mean, but for me it's "songs he was GENIUS to give away". It's double joy to have the released versions we do (by other artsts) and the leaked Prince versions.

.

That said, my votes for most genius giveaways have in large part been listed:

.

Sex of it, Baby You're a Trip, the epic Sheila E tracks, and a wildcard choice: Hit U In The Socket.

.

And how could I forget: The Stick

Manic Monday is just 1999 with a different chorus structure so it would have been weird if he kept it.
