Dallas Austin? That was around the same time that he worked with Fishbone as well. Would have been amazing if they ever worked together! And Prince had just sampled Fishbone on Billy Jack Bitch as well, so he did listen to them... (yes, I am a Fishbone fan as well, though we are rare nowadays)

ah ok, that's interesting cool do you remember what he said exactly, or what show it was? (the date)?

Something like "Steve Austin is producing my next album called Emancipation, 52 songs, 80 dollars, save your money".

Steve Austin would have been cool, he could have got Hulk Hogan to guest on it wink

So it's Dallas Austin. Anyway IIRC you can check the bootleg from the PP show in 1995, I think it was 19/9/1995

I wonder how Emancipation would've sounded with Dallas Austin producing rather than Kirk?

I wonder if Austin produced versions of any of those tracks?

At a guess better but probably similar with that R&B sound he wanted around then
.
Even though Prince liked to mention Austin and Babyface for their work on CrazySexyCool I doubt he'd actually let them produce anything

Just keep in mind that quite a bit of new information has surfaced since then and I am slowly but surely working on a completely revised, corrected and updated edition to be published at a later date. biggrin
