The Original Remix Experience by Brother Jules

Can we confirm once and for all whether this was an official release or not? Before anyone says, I have read the numerous posts on this and it seems the most we can surmise is that it's 'inofficial' (whatever that means). I'd be interested to see the original ad P had up on his then-current website. Can that be found on the Prince Online Museum?

All I know is Prince played it before the Hit N Run 2000 show in St. Louis. At the time Jules and P were close. He was the DJ at all the mid 90's Paisley parties...my guess would be is he made it for P to do whatever he wanted with it. I remember in 02 going to his record store in uptown & they were selling it they also had other official stuff(Tambourines & hockey jerseys left over from 97. I would think if Prince cared he was selling them he coulda easily stopped him. Official not really, but did Prince use it? Yes. Did he care if Jules sold it? Not enough to stop him.

It was played a lot at the 90s Paisley parties. So it depends on what your definition of official is. Marketed and distributed like his other albums? No. Given the seal of approval from Prince to play and sell? Yes.

Thanks for the responses. I guess my definition of 'official' would be endorsed by the man himself. I read that it was, at one point or other, promoted on one of P's websites at the time so I always leaned towards it being official. Would love to see this ad if anyone has a screengrab! I'd never heard of it being sold at PP. I guess that too adds to it being more official than not, for me.

I know there's a promo EP floating around but as for the full 2 disc set, no, not that I'm aware. I take it 4ever won that battle!

I currently have the second pressing, the one with the Hot Wit U Remix etc as bonus tracks, on its way to me. I'm assuming this is when things got frosty between P and Jules...

True. Though I doubt he would have been thrilled with that 2 disc set Jules was pushing a few months back...

True. Though I doubt he would have been less thrilled with that 2 disc set Jules was pushing a few months back...

I havnt heard any of this music and im not interested in it. I agree player,P wouldnt appreciate it,its a form of bootlegging. The worst thing for me in regards with Prince music is everyone who can try to make money, will try, from WB to The Estate to Ian Boxill to Brother Jules to The Revolution and so on and so on. Why dont Wendy and Lisa do a tour of their music? Cos nobody wants to hear that shit.
