Good thread. I've copied some info on brand names to make purchases. I think Prince used a lot of different brands and scents for himself and his home, but favored certain ones. Here's a good article that talks specifically about his candies and what was done with them ultimately: https://www.nytimes.com/2....html?_r=0 "Last August, when Angie Marchese became director of archives at Paisley Park, the rock star Prince’s studio and residence, one of the first things she did was to get rid of all the candles. Festooning nearly every room of the compound, they came in all sizes, shapes, colors and scents (including a few of Prince’s own aromatic blends). “We replaced all the real candles with artificial candles,” Ms. Marchese said in an interview this week in an anteroom at the compound, as her team prepared for a series of events marking the one-year anniversary of Prince’s death on Friday. (Her crew cataloged and archived the originals.) “We still wanted the essence of the candles, and how they made the rooms feel, without the fire hazard,” she explained. “Prince can burn Paisley Park down, but I can’t.”"

.

Good article. Well, I'm glad I'm not the only person who's interested in how Prince and PP smelled. LOL lol

Yes, I have a feeling there are a bevy of people wanting to know the same thing! smile

My wife and I frequented Paisley Park quite a bit over the last few years. Our favorite spot during the shows on the large soundstage was on the risers that were positioned on either side of the room. After one late night show, I remember we lifted one of the candles off of the table we sat at, thinking it might be something fairly fancy. It was a Target brand lavender candle. I have no idea if that's what he used elsewhere, but I found it endearing that Prince went (or, more likely, sent someone) on a Target run for candles. smile

.
Of course. He was loyal to Minnesota.
I'm sure everyone knows that Target is headquartered in Minneapolis.
That also explains the Target-exclusive record deal.

There was a yankee candle in his video editing room - had a starfish on the front, Ocean Star scent and there was also an aerosol can of Thymes Lavender spray in there on the bookshelf.

So I've been reading a lot about what Prince and Paisley Park smells like. I only wish I had the experience to know! Assuming he liked his 3121 fragrance and the Salish Winds "Garden of Eden" incense, think its safe to say he liked sandalwood, patchouli, and jasmine floras? They both carrry these scents.

I have my first Garden of Eden waiting in my mailbox today. I can't wait to see what the fuss is about...

Yay!! Thank you! I've always wondered about his everyday things. I'm so glad you noticed.

He frequented a store in uptown for years and they had a little sign in the store indicating the last candle he purchased in 2/2016 was Capri Blue (Aloha Orchid scent). I found the same candle on Amazon.

On a side note, Paisley Park scent was heavenly mixed with some extra oxygen or maybe magic dust;)

.

Okay, Imma put that on my shopping list too! typing lol

When I visited Paisley Park last fall, we were in Studio B when we asked "what is that smell?" PP smelled of flowers and lavender and we wanted to know if that's what PP smelled like all the time. The tour guide said we smelled Airwick Lavender and Chamomile plug-ins! We laughed and inspected an outlet as you walk into the studio. Sure enough--there was a plug-in. She said he had them throughout PP and they continued to use them. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I now keep one or two in my home outlets. [Edited 6/1/17 1:02am]

I bought some of the Airwick Lavender and Chamomile plug ins at the supermarket today and now I remember that smell from PP! I honestly dont get the lavender and chamomile fragrance from this product. To me, it smells like thecherry suckers I used to get at the bank when I went with my parents as a kid -- and I remember telling my friend on our tour that I smell a cherry sucker! So yeah, its nice but I don't think I will keep using them like I do the Salish Winds incense sticks.
