Interview with promoter Perry "PJ" Jones. Worked with Prince on his 2nd Album

http://podcastjuice.net/category/shows/

Interview with promoter Perry "PJ" Jones. In 1979 Mo Ostin, Warner Brother’s chairman of the board, told PJ, "Perry, I have a problem up in Minneapolis. I want you to go and see what you can do. I have a kid getting ready to sign with Chris Blackwell (the manager for Bob Marley)."

That kid was Prince Roger Nelson.

PJ talks about working with musical icons Maurice White and Prince. CLASS IS IN SESSION!

1) A bit about racism at Warner Brothers

2) A bombshell about WB and Prince's mgmt.

3 And yes riding around on a white horse appearing to be buck naked was Prince's idea (WTF) .

Very very interesting guy and a really interesting interview.

This guy is really something else. Funny and informative.

When PJ Perry Jones got to the part about taking P with him and having him wait in the car while he met with Q, I had a bit of an "Aha!" moment about why P might've felt some type of way years later about doing We Are The World, too. All these industry roads cross connect as time goes by. Hmmm.

smile

P. S. Now ya know that it figures the nekkid horse ride would be a P idea.

great interview, I always wonder if Prince might have been doing the old get away from all the people like you so you have a shot kind of thing. This guy sounds like he knew his business but just didn't have the finances to get Prince there. Loved his anectdotes and stories.
