Prince has no song to speak about current war in IRAQ?

Am i the only one that finds it strange that this outspoken artist hasn't said anything about the war?

Well, since this war is just a sequel to the one 11 years ago, you could count "Money Don't Matter" as his song of protest.

he probably supports the war, but is too afraid to speak out in fear of causing a backlash amongst his looney, peace-loving-no-matter-what-the-cost fans.

sort of a Dixie Chicks in reverse

I'm talking about a new song. I know he has made alot of songs anti-war in the past. I have to agree with Aaron, i think the dixie situation might have something to do with it. Madonna used it to her advantage, knowing the video wouldn't have seen alot of airplay. She made it come across as TOO controversial to air. Made me end up watching it(something i would not have done normally). I was dissappointed because what was so controversial. Women dancing in fatigues?

of course, any day now he could announce an album with a story, a la TRC, but about war... so who knows. as always, and not just in this case, i tend to like Prince a lot more when he keeps his mouth shut. i'm sure that it'll be the same in this case, whichever side he falls on lol he has a way of taking a good point and really ruining it.

Prince has done enough to fuck up his career. If he did a song against the war, he'd get chewed out even more.

A couple weeks ago I was snubbin Prince on another post cuz he hadn't put his 2 cents in on the war.

But right now I'm so sick of hearing celebs spout off, that I'm almost glad he didn't.

It works well too, because it makes the point that eleven years on nothing has changed.

My question would be; why would you really want him to? Prince is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

No one has released a song about the war have they? Prince hasn't released songs about currant affairs in ages. He didn't do a 9/11 song did he? Listen to Money Don't Matter 2Nite, it's still relevant.

Just curious, he used to be so cutting edge. So willing to take the dare. This just seemed like the perfect opportunity.

To do what? Be ridiculed and called Anti-American...Come on...get over it...Current events are changing rapidly and so is public opinion, or haven't you noticed the dwindling protests.

In light of yesterday's events speaking out against the war is only going to fall on deaf ears anyway.
