I hoped there was the two lives in blu ray - but schokingly, there is only 1 dvd (!!). We are not in 2004 anymore...What is the point in remastering a video tape in 2017, if it is not for a HD release ?

It depends on how they filmed it, you cannot make a decent HD release with video...

Even in DVD, i would have been happy to get the remastered version of the First Avenue !

Doesn't look like there will be a second concert DVD?

At least there is Syracuse remastered and polished up along with a vinyl edition of PR.

Thanx, I mean it's cool, but kind of shitty of WB to say two full concerts but only offer one. Besides that, I'm pleased with this release.

Not a chance in hell I'm paying $75 for a half baked release of 75% content that I already own.

Excuse me if it was already noted.....

... but the fact that we have "Electric Intercourse (Studio Version)" to me implies that in one of the 2 live CDS in the set there is also one "Electric Intercourse (Live Version)".

.

No it doesn't.

I didn't expect this to make me so emotional. Listening to Electric Intercourse has dropped me like a bag of shit. It's fucking EPIC. Crying like a child and I don't care.

The studio version shocks my wild
with a sexual electricity extraordinaire.

I sure hope the Vault naysayers (we already have everything of interest) gonna shut up for a long while after this.

The "4th" disc on "Purple Rain Deluxe" is definitely Syracuse live set.

Prince re-mastered "Purple Rain" himself before he left us as the release has been scheduled now for a few years.

The Revolution do a "track by track" in the CD booklet and Susan Rogers contributes to the liner notes.

There will also be a vinyl version of the Deluxe Edition.

Cant wait!

PS: I think "Electric Intercourse" is beautiful.

Bernie Grundman wasn't involved?
I sure hope Prince did not go for the TGE approach (brickwall).

Hurray for the vinyl confirmation.

Let's hope the Syracuse DVD contains the option for other angles and "When Doves Cry" without the mirror effect like the original broadcast... My guess is this will just be a transfer from the LD master of the official release, to keep the production costs low... A proper remaster of the show with all the bells and whistles would be great...

Alot of times, when I listen to Prince's unreleased songs,I get so sad/angry that the world never got to hear these amazing tunes."Electric Intercourse" should have been released back in the day!! Maybe as a B-side? It's too good to stay in the vaults all of these years!! I'm thrilled that it's finally beinfg released now,but damn.......can you imagine the impact it would have had back in 84' or '85?!

Late to the party as usuall but holy shit Electric Intercourse is GOOD stuff! It has been on repeat for hours! I always imagined this studio version would have the same echo effect on his voice like I Would Die 4 U tho but still so great!!

Does anyone know why they insist on labeling the song a Studio Version? There wasn't ever a live version released officialy right? Or maybe there will be one in the future?

I like it a lot but I have been spoilt by the live version. It's a bit like the differences between Fury live and the studio version. But I still like both versions.

Because they know all the bootleg collectors already have the live version and they don't want them to look at the track list and think they've got it all already.

I think I'll buy the Purple Rain remaster + The vault. I have less interest in dvd and songs edits.

But I'll buy the deluxe as soon as I can.

Yes, Warner Bros could put more songs, Prince could had relased this years ago, and other da da da.

Prince is dead and I find myself like in a church touching the relics.

That's my plan, pre-ordered the 2 disc set this morning. Not too fussed about the concert, which I doubt I'd watch more than once and really not interested in the disc of singlese.

This is all very exciting!

I'd always assumed that a 'studio' version of Electric Intercourse would be mastered from the live performance, like some of the other Purple Rain tracks. So it's great to have a different version. Having said that, the live version was killer!

Wonderful Ass is my jam so can't wait to hear a fully mastered version!

I thought of this but why than don't they call The Dance Electric or Our destiny/Roadhouse Garden Studio Versions because all the bootleg collectors have those live versions.

Well, we should have the studio of Our Destiny/Roadhouse already, but yeah, that's a good point. Can't say it really bothers me though.

While I'm speaking about Roadhouse, I'm hoping that the version here is different to the one which leaked last year as that sounds a bit unfinished to me. Either way though, I'm really looking forward to this release.

I'm glad the studio version has a falsetto vocal, as I've always preferred the falsetto rehearsal to the others. And what an interesting vocal! Lots of weird extended vibrato, which is different for him and very cool. It takes a few spins to get used to, but how exciting! When the beat kicks in, I instantly thought of Bria's Another Boy.

Just went back and listened to Another Boy - you are correct.

What a fuckin spot that is - pupil of the day award on the way

Or....they want to milk on Prince fans and have us buy these editions, then 1 month later comes the supadupa deluxe expanded whatever version with the 2nd disc of unearthed material which contains Electric Intercourse (live version first ave 83", mentioned on Princevault...who knows...

If that's the case, I want a ticket to the milk train. Still want a super quality version of the live track biggrin
