Mayte could used a ghostwriter. A lot of celebrities use ghostwriters to write their books. If someone wants to get into the writing industry as a writer, being a ghostwriter is where it at. A person might sign away their rights and might or might see their name in a book (like mystery author James Patterson he uses a ghostwriter but he often gives his ghostwriters credit) but the income can be steady if your material is good.

That is why I was thinking, 'I wish that was true' when people are saying she is cashing in and is going to make money as if she is going to make millions. She would be lucky if she get part-time income off this book after the publisher, agent, lawyer, possibly ghostwriter, and Uncle Sam gets their cut.

Yeah same happened to author Zora Neale Hurston. She shared Ayn's libertarian views but she also had to use goverment assistance toward the end of her life and died so broke that her family couldnt get a tombstone (Alice Walker had to buy her tombstone years later after she discovered her writings).

ya, it's not wealth but it's enough money for people to go through the trouble of writing books. and i'm positive she had a ghostwriter, a book is a huge project and she never did come across as being on the dean's list if you know what i mean.

Lets put it this way. If Mayte was a solo singer, she would make more money doing 20 gigs in some European country than selling books. And sometimes people write books because they love and have passion for writing not for the money. Just like some musicians make albums they never released because they love playing music.

True, however she is neither a writer or musician, so what would her alternative motive be for publishing this book?

Why I can't defend her or the book. Beyond disgusting.

He asked his assitant to burn the babys ashes. Who was the assistant at that time? Maybe it's time she speaks out.

The Mojica Sisters. Arlene was her personal assistant, and Erlene was her (I believe) nanny. THey're the ones that sold the story to tabloids in '96-'97. Prince and Mayte then filed restraining orders against them.

Yeah, but I don't think it's the nannies. This was after they were already gone.

Last time I checked, nobody in this Forum is Prince. So stop trying to think for him. Mayte and anybody else that spent time with him is going to do as they please. What Prince MIGHT have wanted and or felt is now null and void as he is no longer here. Simple as that. Can mods close this thread? It's going nowhere.

THANK YOU! He was not perfect and even though alot of us are still hurt that he died under unfortunate circumstance, it could've been worse when he was alive. He could've been Michael Jackson or Bill Cosby. His reputation/legacy could've been forever tarnished. This will not affect his legacy.

Comments connected to the photo of the magazine cover....the first comment is him asking for a copy because he is too sick to go out and get one. The second comment has him stating that he has changed his mind about the book and he will go into the reasons in his podcast.

Wasn't he supportive of it earlier?.

I want to hear him out. I am kind of suprise of his change of opinion because he was riding for Mayte (and Mani) very hard. I hope he gets better because diabetes is a bitch.

So she can just put stuff in the book not knowing for sure if it's true or not and it's someone else's responsibility to fact check after the fact? Even though we all know the original claim will get more attention than any denial ever would? I'm sorry that's bullshit. If she doesn't know for a fact this happened it shouldn't be in the book. Period.

On a recent podcast Funkenberry defended the book saying Mayte had the right to tell her side of the story. I wonder what made him change his tune.

She obviously doesn't care if it's true or not. I would think that sometime over the past 20 years she would have been curious where the remains of her child was to find out, but mind blowingly apparently not...so to this day she doesn't really know, but has the balls to write about it, says a lot about her too

That's what gets me. Why did she not ask for the remains when they divorce? Their is a old saying when you point your finger at someone else three pointing back at you.

Even though I am not Mayte as you have to ask her via her social media pages. But whatever people feels about her writing a book (or assisting) is therapeutic to releasing hidden pain.

Opinion: Did People Mag P...ar enough?

https://rayesradar.wordpress.com/2017/03/17/opinion-did-people-mag-prince-article-go-too-far-or-not-far-enough/

Stand out comments :

The writers clearly attempt to twist the story and bend it against Prince instead of towards a grieving couple. Had they done any research, they would have known that couples seldom know exactly what to do and an attempt to pull their spouse out of the grief with an activity is an act of love, and not an act of malice.

The next glaring omission by the writers is that they apparently failed to mention his severe and chronic hip pain, and his need for a second hip surgery. Injured by many years of jumping from high places while performing … in heels, and all of his acrobatic dances on stage, including splits. Many while holding his guitar. So instead of acknowledging his chronic and severe pain, the writers infer and imply that Prince was using some sort of drug for no reason. Were the ‘drugs’ painkillers? Not far enough.

The inference and interpretations go even further, when they state, and not as a quote, that people had “no idea he was battling drug addiction”. But they offer no proof that there was any such “battle”. In fact, his cause of death states he died from an “accidental” overdose from a painkiller. The other fact is that Ms. Garcia states that she never saw him do “anything”, yet the writers move that statement to a ‘battle’ with ‘drug addiction’. Too far.

And, it gets worse. When a person says that they are “sick” or that they have a “migraine” does not “hint” at drug addiction. Pretty low bar.

The London Times article was more sad than I thought it would be, and much more sympathetic towards Prince than I thought it would be. If the book has that tone throughout the book than I will feel better about this book. He comes off flawed but very human (in good ways). I am still pissed about the cherry picking in the People magaine article and I do think Mayte was irresponsible in allowing that to happen..

It does condemn Jehoviah Witnesses and it does cast Prince as a man more vulnerable to others' influence than many people on this board would like to believe. And I am fine with that. It also seems to dog on Manuela a bit. I think Manuela should have a right to defend herself a bit though.

the interesting part of your statement is that prince was suggestible, i always suspected that because of all the changes he went through. That includes the legend of the black album, and how some dingbat he chritened "the spirit child" or whatever it was, gave him his first taste of ecstasy. Guys at that level of fame seem to be so isolated that they reach out in strange directions, Elvis did it, Michael did it, Sinatra did it. Not sure what to make of it because I don't believe those guys were that weak as people that they needed the mafia, the memphis mafia, the jw's or rabbis and psychics.

I have a 16 year old daughter and there is no way in hell that I would turn her over to a 30 something year old man, especially a rock star who is known for womanizing. I would have to ask her mother now, was it worth it.
