I don't have any type of 'connections' in which to have all of these tracks/videos that alot of you folks have in your collections. Exact recording dates are unknown, but the track was initially recorded by Támar Davis, indicating that intitial tracking took place at some point between early 2005 (when Prince first worked with Támar Davis) and early 2006, when it was included on Támar's first album, then titled Beautiful, Loved & Blessed; it was included as the fifth track when the album was later renamed Milk & Honey. True, I saw Tamar's concert here in Houston, where Prince acted as the guitarist and kept to the left side of the stage with shades on for the bulk of material from Tamar. But then he took over for the ending and the encore. That was a crazy overcrowded night, but I was right up there at the front.

A little bit more to that, Ashley Davis used to also hang around with Beyonce and her crew of Houston singers that were trying to get it together.

It just goes to show how people can be painted with a broad brush because people think they "know" someone. It is almost unbelievable the amount of philanthropic gestures and unsolicited mentoring that Prince initiated (with no fanfare or spotlight) that have been shared in the past 9 months from various stars and family.

This guy was unbelievable and so much more than "all about the music".

Fly, thanks for fishing this out. What a lovely photo! Both P and Tamar look really good hear. I found some of their videos on an Asian website. P really had a lot of respect for Tamar and was also very gentle and tender with her.

Thanks - ACharmed1. This is the video from the Asian website. P really did have a lot of respect and affection for Tamar. The performance went really well and he seemed to be thrilled that they nailed it so he hugged her tight. I said Andy Allo was the first of P's curly haired babes, but it was actually Tamar. You are right. I don't get the vibe that he had anything going with Tamar. I think he felt bad that she was drawn unfairly into his divorce drama when she was just trying to get her career off the ground. She is extremely talented.

Her right arm is behind him. In any case, if his marriage was over and they were together I personally see nothing wrong with that. He would have been better off with a normal decent woman like Tamar compared to some that were a complete waste of time and money. He may be alive today if he had married a decent and unselfish person.

Agreed. He had a huge heart, and loved taking care of others. Always wanting 2 make sure every1 was "cool".

I think ppl that view him as a jerk don't seem 2 understand he was a boss as well. And like any good boss he pushed ppl 2 be their best and achieve perfection. The stories about him docking ppl and things like that... it's kinda like besides firing some1 what else was he supposed 2 do, allow horrible sound or playing? And then that's taken as a "jerk" move. The man was flawed as we all R and made mistakes but his heart was always in the right place. A lot of what he did was self preservation mode 2, protecting his own heart.

And after all the things he'd been thru in his life 1 can't blame the poor guy.

I totally agree with you. I don't recall too many things about what others did for P. It was take, take, take and complain until he passed then everyone starts to cry about his kindness and big heart. For a kid who was kicked out of his home to make it big and live his dream of making music, traveling the world, owning several fantastic homes and properties, and becoming incredibly rich. I think P deserves a lot of respect and a bow!

Thanks for posting that WONDERFUL performance CherryMoon57. Prince looked VERY PROUD when he performed on the NAACP Image Awards. It was also awesome that throughout his career he would spotlight super talented women of color such as Tamar Davis, Shelby J., Liv Warfield, etc.

I agree! Tamar looked like an African Queen and her voice was so strong and filled with emotion. I have played this video over and over again.

If you talk to people who worked with him in the last 12-15 years you'd get a different impression of the man than someone that worked with him in the 80s or early to mid 90s. That's not to say he was a saint or couldn't still be difficult at times. But I really think he had become a different person, a better person.

I believe he evolved. I find offense in those trying to make him a man mentoring younger women just to get in their pants. I believe he was a man of the arts and mentored them all for real. Not as a boyfriend or lover-

Tamar was a great talent and I belive she saw him as an Uncle . I enjoy her performance of fury with him at the Brit Awards also - beautiful young woman, great talent and she is not pimping her time with Prince to sell concert tickets or get attention on the net. I respect her very much.
