Video: Candy Dulfer & the NPG's Chance Howard honor Prince with a VERY FUNKY tribute

Check out this very funky tribute to Prince that took place in October by the magnificent Candy Dulfer and the New Power Generation's Chance Howard.

The Prince medley (with snippets of Zapp & Earth, Wind & Fire) clearly shows that Candy currently has a very tight funky band.

Enjoy it!

Wow. Now, THAT'S fonky!!!! I hate to say it, but I'm gonna say it: Their version of "Cool" rivals Morris Day and the Time's. This is yet another reminder of what a great songwriter Prince was. "Cool" is just one of the best, most fun songs ever. And, P influenced an entire generation, or four, of musicians. Watching Candy Dulfer, I kept thinking of that classic Average White Band song, rephrased: Play that Funky Music, White Girl!!! And, lastly, it's time for Chance Howard to take his place out front!!! This is his time. Needless to say, this is one of the best Prince tributes I've seen yet!!! Thanks for sharing, Latin!! LONG LIVE PRINCE. heart

I think you mean to say Prince and Morris' version if you're talking about the album version. If youj're talking about some live version than you are surely correct.

Hi, steakfinger! I was referring to live performances. "Cool" is just classic MLPS Sound, meaning classic Prince. It will forever be one of my favorite songs by The Time.

That's a great tribute.

They also did a superb, moving version of "Purple Rain" on the night that Prince died sad

In this video from a couple of years ago, Candy speaks about her experience working with the "genius" Prince and describes what FUNK is.

The video also includes her and Chance Howard performing Prince's "Life of the Party".

Im not even sure which year it was, sorry, but there was hysteria in the media that Prince was in Holland and might be heading for the NSJF. I remember watching Candy and Life O the Party. Very funky. Maceo - the man, Chance, Sheila E appeared and was so hyper on stage. But no Prince. Was an awesome festival in an awesome country.
