"A longtime supporter of Special Olympics, Prince performed at the Opening Ceremony of the 1991 Special Olympics International Games (now known as World Games), which were held in his hometown, Minneapolis, USA.

It was a rare live performance for Prince, who played several songs before approximately 6,000 Special Olympics athletes from 100 countries. He was backed by his band, The New Power Generation, in a show that aimed at entertaining and celebrating our athletes.

The Opening Ceremony performance was seen around the world, and ABC television produced a two-hour show about the event called “Victory and Valor.”

In the words of Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver, "Prince came to Special Olympics and made us the coolest party in the world. We are forever grateful."

We all know Rosie can belt, but what impressed me as a Prince fan, was how strong his deeper vocals were during the verse part of the song.

Also of course the dancing and puppet-master routine were all kinds of great. The rap was mediocre, but I can live with that when "Baby, you're a star" has never sounded better...We can actually hear the "star" part of the song. On my Purple Rain CD< i can barely hear it.

The choreography is awesome.
