OOBEY DOOP // MY TREE // A POSITIVE PLACE

music

this has been my guilty pleasure since the first time i got a cassette in the post
with this little suite of songs on it, back in 1992 or so.

good lord the times i've wished this had been included in the NPG single, along
with all those other songs.

especially since there have been several speeds of this circulating. although i'm
in love with all of them, faster or slower lol

it's just so loud and joyous and exuberant lol love music

prince is not on all vocals, fcuz, but that's part of it's appeal on this one for me,
which is weird because usually i want prince on ALL vocals smile but prince mixes
his vocals into these songs in a very sexy way. his voice sounds so freaking hot
on these tracks. eek

i can never listen to just one of these three. it has to be all three, all the way.

I had totally forgotten about this. I always liked that New Power Generation maxi single. More than the ones that followed, anyway. This whole idea of taking one song and then redoing it until it becomes another song started here. Get Off> Glam Slam 91> Gett Off and then all the variations on that... After a while, it got boring... Cream isn't such a good song that we need an entire CD full of versions of it.
But... It would be fun to revisit the tracks you mention and I'll give you my thoughts later...

Alright, I gave them another listen and I can really only say, if you like rap, it's okay. I love the beats, the funky rhytms, but the raps really are in one ear, out the other. Come Outside And Play is from the same sessions and it's so much better because it has those same funky beats, but also shows Prince the songwriter.

true, "come outside and play" is a better tune, but i just love the silly, easy vibe in these 3 songs.

he pretty much had another mini-album ready to go with all the tracks from the NPG single session cool
