Not entirely true. Hit N Run Phase 2 is nominated for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical

Bieber and Drake were nominated over Phase 2. Seriously?

The USA TODAY article I read about this nomination said 4EVER sold 8,000 units in two days. That's it. I don't know about streaming or other sources, but only 8,000.

Proves the Grammys are meaningless now and should never be talked about again.

It appears the USA Today agrees with some of us. While Prince was here we would compare him to himself, so when he put out an album like Phase 2 I think the consensus was that it was a very solid album, but not in his Top 5, which is fair. But, Prince is not here any more and there is no question that anything that he did is better than Beyonce, Bieber, Drake, etc. I mean seriously.

A technical award. Not what the dreamers here were hoping for.

I'm sure Gustavo is talking about the Album of the year category only. Bieber over Bowie really?

Face it, Prince was never beloved, probably barely respected, by the industry, it seems despite his outrageous talent. sad

Album Of The Year: Metacrictic score

25 — Adele 75
Lemonade — Beyoncé -92
Purpose — Justin Bieber - 63
Views — Drake -69
A Sailor's Guide To Earth — Sturgill Simpson -86

Not even listed for album of the year

Bowie Blackstar- 87

Prince Phase 2 -63

So explain the reason for Bowie's album not making it?

Blackstar rates higher than 4 of those albums, so proves grammys is BS.

I disagree but i loved them both. But i can see why u would say so.

2 completely different albums besides the title.

One was more electric with r&b/ hiphop influences... the other more of a compilation of live with mostly jazz textures.

I think phase 2 has a couple songs that should have gotten the "best r&b vocal performance "nod this year

I was one of the harshest critics of Phase 1, but even Phase 1 is better than anything out there now. No one can make a song like Hardrock Lover, June or 1000 hugs and kisses.

Not in any major category. But honestly who cares. When Prince presented in 2015 he got a standing ovation from the crowd. That matters more to me than whether the suits nominate him for an award or not.

The most you will see of Prince at the Grammys is either in the "In Memoriam" segment or a dedicated tribute. Other than that, zilch unless some performer gets up there and talks about him.

I'll bet he gets this year's lifetime achievement award, which is usually announced closer to the ceremony.

So just for kicks I checked the last studio albums released by Paul McCartney (who seems to be a Grammy presenter or performer every year now) and Bruce Springsteen and neither of them received Grammy nominations from what I can tell. Not surprised Prince was snubbed.

I hate to say it but I think Beyonce will sweep everything with "Lemonade." Rolling Stone named it the best album of the year, the Grammys will follow. Makes me sick, but that's the way it is.

I know, I've had about enough of Queen Bey.

Yes, it should b. I believe the cutoff date is November of the prior year, so Prince released HnR2 in December (2015) should qualify.

Okay. Then no way he doesnt win album of the yeae. Black Muse, Stare, Revelation, Baltimore, etc. Nothing else comes close.

I am in total aggreement. Screwdriver, Groovy Potential, 2 young 2 Dare? I even went out of my way to buy the album on vinyl because I love it so much. I can play it all the way through without stopping. As well, I feel the critics were looking for something more "up to date" like Art Offcial Age without actually listening to this album as an organic album with all around good tunes with not only catchy choruses but solid foundations. Albeit some have been released already to the hardcore fans but to someone who didnt know before it was a very good release imo. One of the best releases of the 2010 + era. Id put it right under Art Official Age actually even though I listen to this album more than that one.

★ is so perfectly Bowie. Progressive, yet familiar, and equally weird and off beat.

Sia, The 1975, Iggy Pop, Gwen Stefani, Esperanza Spalding, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Bob Mould, Pet Shop Boys, Mayer Hawthorne, Beyonce, Sixx A.M., Cyndi Lauper, Ariana Grande, Fitz and the Tantrums, Garbage, Maxwell, Frank Ocean, De La Soul, Green Day, Loretta Lynn, Sting, A Tribe Called Quest, Bruno Mars, DNCE, Garth Brooks, Rumer, and more have released great and/or notable albums this year. And a vast majority out weight Phase 2.

Those were some good albums that had more of a public view and promotion gotta admit. Bruno Mars and Bowie especially.

Prince didnt have any promo really of Hit N Run 1 or 2, there should have been some type of videos for either one but still.
