No, it means they've got the German market rights to the documentary. So far this is the only article that mentions this documentary, all others I've found link back to this. © Bart Van Hemelen

Hasn't this early years stuff not been covered in other documentaries? People seem to be in such a hurry to make some money off the mans death that they're not stopping to think if their "great" idea has been done before. First, 4ever, a greatest hits compilations that's kind of pointless if you have The Hits/B Sides. Now this? I bet another unauthorised biography with contributions from "those who knew him best" will be in stores just in time for next Christmas. Pepe Willie must be waiting by the phone in case someone calls to ask him all about that time he recorded some songs with Prince.

I would really love to see a new documentary on Prince if it's done well. If the Frontline guy is involved, it might be. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

// Actually Andre Cymone has done a few interviews in the last year or so and their was a lot we did not know. If he is involved this will be interesting.

yeah, his name piqued my interest as well. It'd be nice if it was done well, like the Marc Bolan Final Word documentary or the Joe Strummer one (which had its flaws alright, but still was decent).

I get where you are coming from...Even Alex Hahns new book will once again cover Prince and the early years....
I would love to hear about the Last 10 years, rather than more about the first 20..
Having said that...I guess they are pitching to the uninitiatied in a hope to secure a wider fan base. and it is likely to do that....
His early years are inspring..rags to riches and all that... but the Man he became...well personally I think the world needs to know more about that.. Especially at this time when the Planet is in turmoil
Prince preached about LOVE and totally practiced what he preached in the end...
His mentoring and silent angel philanthropic activities are the kind of things that we can ALL emulate.... every day in smaller but no less significant ways...

. Oh please, some of us remember what happened to serpan99, which was when, back in 2014? . Prince did plenty of "hating" in recent times. Plenty of venom towards Warners for instance. © Bart Van Hemelen

This is great news! Based on the producer’s previous work with Frontline at PBS, I think this will be a fascinating, top notch documentary. I am glad that Dez and Andre will be featured in this production.

Just read the article...I'm optimistic about this doc. I hope it's organized and accurate. :Pop Life live in Detroit:

Why should he have not had venom toward them? He could have said worst things about them or continued to go on a public rant which he stopped doing. Please don't use a tweet or two as a rant. One thing he could really do was rant and I think he slacked off a lot on WB in the last 10 years of his life.

. So you admit I was right and that Prince did not practice what he preached, and thus the fam I was responding to was wrong. © Bart Van Hemelen

No, the fan said " Prince preached about LOVE and totally practiced what he preached in the end..."
Prince just said what he felt when he was ranting. If you feel you are being mistreated you have a right to speak up. Prince never went out into the public threating to kill anyone at WB or making his issues with the company personal by name checking people and defaming them.( That would have been not practicing what he preached)
He reached a deal with them to end his contract and as far as we know delivered what he was obligated as part of his separation from the company. Since that time people who were at WB have admitted that sometimes he was actually right about a few things and other associates have talked about how he was treated like shit by WB at times. He was not wrong to speak out or try and give advice to other artist. Many of whom have spoken well of his advice and assistance in the last month.
I will not go into the countless times he gave money out his own pocket to help people. You do not get a tax deduction for paying a medical bill or burying someone. Dude was not the devil you have made him out to be over the years and I would think after finding out all the good stuff he did you would finally let somethings go. He gave WB a hard time so what they surived as a company and life went on. Companies are not human beings and I don't spend my time weeping for them.

So basically it's the same old documentary we've been seeing for years with the same old interviews from the same old people telling the same old stories about 1978-1988, because as everyone knows Prince passed in 1989? "Everybody wants to tell what's already been told, everybody wants to sell what's already been sold"... Fed up with this, how about a documentary that covers the 90's or the 2000's for a change?
