The Double Rainbow Children.

Each CD/ Vinyl came with a free joint.

I wish! TRC is a great album to punch a higher floor to. Especially the title track!

You know what - it's strange - I love that album sober, but when I did so recently I wasn't feeling it. I think my ability to really enjoy stuff under the influence is just gone now.

.

I even tried Lotus FLower, and no dice.

.

Went back sober and hell yes I loved them again. I wonder if there is something wrong with me?

And I am really suprised with the story that he submitted an album to JW, because they certainly wouldnt approve stuff like ´Lotus Flower" or ´3rd Eye Girl´. Maybe Prince wasnt so close to them in 2009 and after

"The Work... Pt 1" - So it kind of makes sense there would be a follow-up album with "The Work Pt 2"

Perhaps TRC2 was the overtly JW album, because TRC is nowhere near as overtly religious as people make out. If you didn't know he was a JW prior to listening to this album I don't think you'd come away knowing (purely from the album). Sure he talks about God on a few tracks, but on the same record he's talking about a woman using a sex toy on herself... I don't think that would go down well with a JW.

2008 was the year he turned up on Leno and performed "Turn Me Loose" - which was a really odd song for someone who's a JW to perform especially given it wasn't tied to any project. Probably fair to say he wasn't REALLY adhering to the faith by this point.

I agree, it was hardly overtly JW

There was more Gnostic Gospels & Egyptology

One album that was definitely rejected by the governing body of the Watchtower Society was the cover album of Jehovah's Witness songs (their version of hymns) that Prince and others contributed to that was orchestrated by George Benson. That project was even criticised directly (though not by name) in an internal publication for JWs, in order to discourage others from attempting the same.

But... why? What was that wrong with it?eek

Because the material that was "redone", although with a generous spirit no doubt and good intentions, was COPYRIGHTED material and that is why tampering with it was discouraged.

But since music was P's thing, and the others allegedly involved, they felt that redoing the JW hymnal was an act of creative generosity.

Much like the teacher who felt she was being kind to redo her student's hairstyle...it was meant to be a generous act, but the child's mother didn't appreciate her child's teacher being presumptuous and styling her hair...and putting the hairstyle pics on Facebook.

If P had become a Mormon and redone some of their whatever, I bet he would've been discouraged by them as well. Of course no one would care cuz JWs seem to be the only sect to criticize. Lol

Could this TRC follow-up be The Last December album initially promised to NPGMC members? Would make sense as that is the title of the last song on TRC, and that album leaned heavily on a narrative concept.

good catch. i always wondered what that might have been, that 'last december' album.

but if this information about trc 2 is correct, that would make the most sense as the 1.

well now, that would be something i would LOVE to see released. drool

Flicking through the Stories From the Purple Underground book, I saw a passage from Sam Jennings who worked on the NPG Music Club. He says he made the artwork for 'The Rainbow Children Part 2' Album...

What?! Prince had plans for a 2nd Rainbow Children album? And seen as Prince was already working on the artwork (apparently a portrait of him and Manuela), it's highly likely the project was nearly finished - right?

The Rainbow Children is one of my favourite Prince albums, so this is very exciting news for me, and it's jumped straight to number 1 on things I want to hear from the vault. I really hope if this exists that it sees public release some day. Does anyone know anything else about this project, or is this new information?

If it does exist in whole or in part I would love to hear it. The Rainbow Children is fantastic!
