This isn't from GQ but a sweet fan encounter from Facebook.😍💜

https://www.facebook.com/...38926451:0

...Friday came and being his wife and baby daughter were still in the hospital there was no way he was going to the concert, so he took a short break and drove to the Palladium since the venue was just 10 minutes’ drive from the hospital. When he arrived there were lots of people waiting outside to get in, including several celebrities. He made his way to the front and knocked on the door. A fellow cracked it open. “Look, I said, I have tickets to the show, but I can’t go because my daughter was just born, and I was hoping to get a t-shirt”. The security guard was gracious enough to let him in and he purchased some CD's, singles, shirts and stuff.

In the background he could hear guitars playing. “I asked, is that Prince and the band? He said, ‘Yes, do you want to see?’ He took me over to a spot where we were up high looking down at the band, and Prince looks up at us and he stops. The security guard tells him I have tickets to the show but can’t attend because my wife just had a baby.

Prince says in his soft voice, ‘What did you have?’

A little girl, I said.

'Aww’, he says, ‘what did you name her?’

I told him her name was Savannah. ‘Nice’, he said, and then he strummed his guitar and sang the chorus of The Most Beautiful Girl in the World. I was just stunned and amazed.”...

Beautiful.

Why do they refer to him as "the artist formerly known as Prince" on the cover? That bothers me.

Bothered me too. When he passed and CBS broke into programming to announce it the anchor called him the "artist known as Prince". I hate that too. Prince wasn't some stage name or alter ego it was his birth name. Grr...

Yeah. I don't care for Keith Richards but I really didn't like him after reading about his comment that P "thought he was royalty" or something equally as idiotic and also something about "if you NAME YOURSELF Prince" blahblahblah and I'm like ASSHAT, his PARENTS named him, it's not a name he chose himself just to be pretentious. He's using his actual name from his friggin birth certificate! Sheesh

I don't know why this bugs me so but it does. No he's not formerly known as Prince. He'd been using his birth name for the past 16 years. rolleyes

Dancer Misty Copeland added: “Yeah, he has made me scrambled eggs. Breakfast was his forte. He liked to use a lot of seasoning. Like Lawry’s, or one of those all-purpose seasonings. They were delicious.”

OMG, the GQ article is all over the internet. Everyone's talking about it, LOL lol

.

There are many people who are just discovering how incredible Prince truly was, and he wasn't this shy, obscure, strange dude after all. He was multi-faceted, and multi-talented. I bet so many are suprised to find out what a great sense of humor he had. I'm really happy to see this part of Prince being shared with the world now! heart

This article has inspired me to get this magazine. I wasn't planning on it before because they should have at least had a picture of Prince on the cover, but I really enjoyed reading the snippets from people who knew him. These are among my favorite's.

Walsh: I said to him, "Come on, man—don't you want to make another Sign o' the Times, another Purple Rain?" I don't know if I framed it exactly like that, but he said, "No, no—Jim, I've been to the mountaintop. There's nothing there." (Very telling...

Keller: I think they were rehearsing for the Controversy tour, and he was dating Vanity at that point, and she was with him in a BMW. We were across the street, and we see this BMW with Prince in it, like, "Oh, Prince is just pulling up to rehearse." And I think he got very self-conscious, because he kept looking at us. He started to back into the space, then he didn't do the one-two-three maneuver that you do when you parallel park, so he hit the curb. Went up the curb a little bit, then he looked sheepish, pulled out, and I think Vanity started laughing. Then he pulled back in and completed the exercise. I think he was embarrassed. He's just like the rest of us—some days you can parallel park, some days you can't. falloff (The fact that he was with Vanity.... touched

Jill Jones: We shared clothes a lot—he'd see something I was wearing, the next day he would be wearing it. The first day I got [to Paisley Park], I found these pants in his closet, these black-and-blue kind of leopard-print things. I went to this rehearsal, and this beautiful black girl walked up to me and said, "Hi, I'm Kim. You're Jill, right?" And I said yes, and she was like, "Those are my pants." I was so mortified. I was such a child then—I was, "Do you want me to take them off?" Then she took my hand and she basically took me aside and kind of schooled me on Prince's ex-girlfriends. I think he liked it. I think he liked all of us. falloff (I know this girl don't have on my pants!

Willis: The middle-of-the-night calls from Prince were a consistent reality. Two, three, four in the morning—having the phone ring was not uncommon. And if you didn't answer, he'd call back. Or call someone to call you to say that Prince was trying to reach you. "Got a pen?" was the way many of those conversations started. A not untypical story: being awoken at three-ish in the morning on a weeknight. "Um, got a pen?" "Not under my pillow. I'll be right back. Okay, I'm back. What's up?" "I'm not sure which morning show it was, but one of them was doing a story on this woman—I think she was in Boston. Somewhere in Massachusetts. She has spent most of the past 10 years trying to save money to buy a building for feeding homeless people, and she's found a building but doesn't have enough money. I want to find her and give her the money." "Okay. Did you catch her name?" "No." "Okay. We'll find her." "Let me know. Thank you." fit(That man was amazing...

This was my favorite read since he died. The accumulation of personal anecdotes that showed the freaky, hilarious, and humane sides of Prince. Consistent with so many other accounts is that almost all the ones from the last few years portrayed a more engaged and compassionate P.

As far as I know, he ate eggs & pancakes, cookies & sweets and was not totally vegetarian because he would eat fish as well.

He seemed to be a vegan only for a few years in the late-90s. By the Musicology tour we already had reports of him eating fish in a restaurant.

I think people should stop spreading the misinformation that he was a vegan, he wasn't even really a vegetarian.

He ate "vegetarian", most of the time, but not ALL of the time. lol
