That band, those members, are all a class act imo. Nice article. I can't even imagine how hard it's been for them. I'm glad they have each other, and I'm glad I got to see them at First Ave. That night actually meant more to me than the huge tribute a month later. Like they said they created something very special with Price as evidenced by the most recent AMA award (again). It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. They should have been invited. Its kind of like if Bruce Springsteen and the E street band won an award and only Bruce was invited.
That being said, in people's posts to Mark Brown when he mildly complained about it, people were saying that album wouldn't have been great without those guys. Not sure we know what it would have been like without those guys. I just know that Beautiful Ones, Darling Nikki and When Doves Cry (according to the Prince vault) is all Prince with no Revolution contribution noted.
I think a balance is needed here. It seems like The Revolution is either unfairly ignored or given too much credit (which is unfair to Prince).
That all being said, in that interview, the Revolution responded with class humility and respect and acknowledged that P's sister is his family.
I am still kind of stinging about their lack of involvement in the memorial tribute but I do know that they love P in their own way.

[Edited 11/22/16 21:43pm] Just FYI, Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame without the E Street Band in 1999. E Street Band did get inducted in 2014. I would argue the E Street Band is more integral to Springsteen than the Revolution was to Prince. Prince has been playing Revolution-era stuff with other bands for almost 30 years.
