I love his look during that era lately.
The photo with the dark blue suit is one of my favorites.
Yes I think it's different eyebrows plus less facial hair but also long blown out/wavy hair.
Sometimes I'm amazed too at how different he looked during different eras - yet somehow the same all throughout his life.

I always said thus. Particularly during the 80s not only was every album different he was physically different too. I think like his music no fan base could be assured coz it was like getting a new pop star every year

I've never seen anyone that could change their appearance so vastly different as Prince did. He had the ability to look completely different in the various stages of his life. Yesterday at work my twenty something co-workers ( in my honor ) went on Instagram to look at Prince pictures to make me happy, lol. I'm in my early forties and think Prince is the hottest guy that ever walked the planet, but even I know that he went through some questionable stages in some of his appearances. Hoping they would find some of his hottest pics and be amazed by him as I was, I was like, "Be prepared to feast your eyes on magnificence!" This is the picture my co-worker decided to click on!

They were not impressed! falloff
I was like, no fair! I had to quickly hit them up with a better one, which they were surprised by his different look but thought he looked too pretty like a girl! lol I must really have on Purple shades because even though this picture isn't my favorite look, I can see still the beauty in him. That's one of the things I loved about Prince. He would weird you out with some of his looks, but you still found beauty in him... heart

Add to that:

Strategic make-up defining, no facial hair, different eyebrows, and sure the overall image changes.

This post makes little sense, because, what are you suggesting he had that procedure reversed for 2011 onwards? Since his face looked more fuller again and no longer had AS pronounced of a jawline the way we see in LoveSexy? disbelief

People are digging for dirt in a swimming pool! Stop speculating negative garbage like drugs and plastic surgery. Can't you YET simply accept Prince for Prince. hmph!

luv u 4 that FP! heart clapping

whats wrong with u folks? ur his FANBASE not the tabloids! why can't u stop digging dirt on him and searching 4 anything that could have been wrong? that's CJ's job and she did it well all those years and seems 2 continue.

botox? his face expressions are legendary. so what????
eye lifting, cheeks done, nose job, .... this guy was a natural beauty - from hair 2 toe - and he knew it. period. why should he have risked to ruin his gorgeous face with surgeries and/or botox?
and if? it's none of our business.

P had the beauty and the mutabilty every woman would wish 2 have (jealous?) he played with his features over decades and switched his image with hairstyles, facial hair, make up, clothes, ... he was more or less toned and lost/gained some pounds on/off over the decades. that's it.

and no - nothing indicates that there had 2 be drugs or illness involved. it always makes me laughing out loud when some1 speculates about those years 93/94 ... he was sick/abused drugs ... thats what the tabloids pointed out and made a huge story out of it. any1 remember that time period? it was the style back then. all the models looked like they were on heroin. it was terrible IMO. and P adopted that style 4 a while with all ingredients needed - including lots of pale make up.

we all have favourite eras and those we dont like that much. and that's cool. he always was cool with that. but there was something he wasn't cool with: critisism. there are lots of interviews out there pointing him that out. maybe u guys like to watch one or the other and then think 4 a few seconds ...

there is nothing but positive energy he left 4 us - not only in his music but in his kind of thinking, his spirituality, his words, his love ... why not focus on that? IMO thats what he wished we do. thats what he gave us. thats what he wanted to be remembered 4. not digging in his private life and personal stuff and critisising.

ok. those are my 2 cents. I'm sorry, I don't want to offend someone. but I cant stand that kind of negativity. there is so much graziness out there and each of us has his/her own problems 2 deal with. P always had the intention 2 enlighten not 2 discourage. again: this is his fanbase not the tabloids! that man was pure love and he deserves 2 be loved back the same way.

[Edited 11/12/16 4:47am]

It's not negativity or criticism or even judgement. It's simply observation. The idea that he's all 'natural' is ridiculous and that isn't a criticism of him but every time this topic comes up on this board someone wants to pop up and say 'Don't talk about it - don't shatter my illusion! The laws of gravity do not apply to Prince's supernatural powers of eternal youthfulness' or something to that effect

He is possibly the most obsessively image self-conscious carefully constructed artist that has walked the face of the earth. Again - not a criticism. I love that about him, that he never, ever had a hair out of place, fully made up at all times but this makes him the opposite of 'natural' as far as that word means to me. I think he always looked pretty great and any work or help that he may have had was always pretty subtle - certainly never overdone.

He's always had an angular and defined jawline. Prince was much muscular in his earlier 1977/78 period. He became really toned/cut in the 1983-1986 years. That will always bring more definition out in his face. I had the same thing happen when I started putting on muscle mass and being more toned/ripped

I doubt that picture is a very realistic one. Before there was photopshop or anything of the like, they used to simply paint over the photos and that's what this one looks like to me. I barely recognize the person in the picture as him.

But, yeah, he wasn't a plastic surgery freak, as far as we know.

These pictures, show the same jawline, I see no reason for Prince to have needed a 'paint over'
This face is the same face throught his years.

Easy answer: With Lovesexy he went for a natural look for many of the photos, he stopped thinning his eyebrows and had no eyeliner in many images. That's the answer you seek.

No facial hair. Longer, brushed out hair.

My dad has had a beard for 40 years. I'd walk right by him if he shaved it now. The photos of him without it, especially the one time he sported only a mustache, are bizarre to me. eek

True, true. No Victorian's were running around in poom poom shorts. lol
He did have on some other Victorian type outfits though. The one where he was playing the piano comes to mind. It has a Victorian-ish look to it. I loved him in that one.

Hey-eyy-eyy-eyy-eyy-eyy-eyy-eyy! I always thought the long hair was cool. fro

I guess I just don’t believe it’s fair to judge a man by the length of his hair. wink

A few months back there was a thread that had someone’s drawings of all the various hairstyles, which I thought was too precious. In fact I wish I'd saved it, doh! brick

The Lovesexy era was a lot of fun for sure, though I thought there were lots of cool looks over the years though of course.

I think this was a creative era for him both musically and visually, though imho he maybe looked a tiny lil' bit cooler through 1989-90.

This face is the same face throught his years.

Also looking at his 78,79,80 photos he still was young and was fuller in the face, as he matured and lost weight he thinned out in the face. I like the Purple rain prince body wise he got a to lean after that and love sexy was hot too but mucg leaner.. after that he got skinnier..

I did not comment on his jawline as such, just pointed out that the promotional photos from that era were manipulated images using approaches that predate Photoshop and the like. The end results are unrealistic and often make him look like a whole different person.

Well, I think that people should stop using promotional photos from any of his eras if they want to prove how Prince looked during them.
