Prince was doing a jazz album for Blue Note?

Finally getting around to asking this question...

I took the PP VIP tour on October 13. While we were in Studio A, they played snippets from two unreleased jazz pieces. The guide(s) stated these pieces were intended for a jazz album that was to be released by Blue Note. hmm

I tried googling and came up with nothing about Prince doing a project for Blue Note. Does anyone know anything about this project? Or was this misinformation?

A possible release on Blue Note was mentioned in the Rolling Stone cover story from 2004, but I don't recall hearing anything since then:

Well, he was working on the NPGQ album, which was a jazz album.

There was nothing mentioned publicly about it being released on Blue Note, though.

This morning I've been listening to Dr. Funk's interviews with Adrian Crutchfield.

Starting at 40:30 in Part 2 of the interview, they talk about these tracks.

Dr. Funk states that one of the tracks being played during the tour is Soulpatch (an instrumental). Then Adrian states that Ruff Enuff is also being played during the tour. However, Adrian also stated that he did not go into Studio A (due to feeling it would be too emotional). Perhaps he was able to hear the music from outside the studio and thus recognized the track?

It was also mentioned (IIRC Dr. Funk stated it) that the NPGQ album was supposed to be on Blue Note. I didn't make a note of where in the interview that was said.
