In the 90's every album had at least one strictly rock track(I like it there, fury, endorphinemachine) peach from the hits collection. Like the rebels project with the popularity of Rock in the 90's did prince miss the opportunity to tap into a new young audience?

I wouldn't consider anything on Symbol, Come or Newpower Soul to be strictly rock.

Papa would qualify as rock. 3 Chains O' Gold too I guess. I think she didn't consider Newpower Soul because it's not officially a "Prince" album.

I dunno, there are some recordings and of course live stuff that was straight up honest (off Prince brand) rock. What about much of his 3rd Eye Girl concerts? What about his live rock re-arrangement of "Anotherloverholeinyourhead"?

One sees tons of misspelled words, punctuations and facts not valid on a site like this if the reader doesn't understand the question maybe he can ignore it and move on but if they feel so obsessed with replying it's all an opinion at the end of the day most like to think they are the most knowledgeable that's cool but there is a thing called class as well:)

Guitar orientated music and rock music are wery different things.

95% of Princes 'rock' was guitar orientated pop music. Prince often lowered the guitar in the mix and upped keyboard lines to have a poppier feel (eg. Fury).

Interesting, so what is it rerally rock? how do you define it? to me something like Just My Imagination or Papa or There Is Lonely sounds like rock, but what do i know.

Writing poorly is an opinion? eek

How much nonsense will we have to tolerate in the name of "opinion"?

Terrorism is an opinion, too? And rape?

Fact is there are certain message boards where poor writing isn't permitted and is a reason for an account being suspended, because it is seen as defeating the purpose (communication) and being disrespectful for other members, so I'm not making that shit up.

Regardless I have no problem with u, I always liked you if only because you have the cutest orgname ever. I'm just asking you to show a little more courtesy to fellow orgers by taking the time to reread before posting.

A blues and rock album with pj would have been nice:)

With whom?

Nah, Prince would never have got on with PJ Harvey - they're both wankers in their own domain. The sex would have made the entire festival audience top themselves through the confusion of Paisley and social conscience

Maybe a song written by prince for her wouldve been cool. But not them dueting or anything they were definitely too different

Well in defense of your suggestion who would have though Prince would ever work with Ani DiFranco? But it was definitely an act of recognition for her independance from labels more than anything else from Prince's part.

Ani is and was a innovator in how she released her music. With her own label and everything

Yeah, okay. Papa does qualify as rock, but it's hardly a "rockin'" track. "3 Chains O' Gold" really doesn't in my mind. The orchestral elements are far too dominant on it (it's "rock" only in the same sense as "Bohemian Rhapsody").

The OP used the expression "strictly rock", so my comment was posted with that in mind.

BS. There are plenty of live performances that prove this statement false.

Campy definition: to intentionally over exaggerate so as to not be taken seriously. I dont think those were his intentions I don't think he was trying to become a parody of himself. for reasons not associated with his obvious skills was prince dismissed or written off as too campy.
