Does anyone know when the Hallucination Rain Soundcheck is from ??

Looking at it the soundcheck contains None of Your Business loop which was played on 14 July 94 in New York, so that may be the best guess.

None of Your Business was played in February, but Hallucination Rain wasn't written until May

The artwork just says 1994

What are your thoughts ??

He mentions Ninety-9 in the soundcheck and she appears on Now at the Roseland Ballroom 12-12 show so its most likely from that night

Another new drop - 1994-06-26 Glam Slam Los Angeles · Encore (Soundboard). Another 4DaFunk/Reverend production. Two tracks. The first one is the audience clamoring for an encore but you have to crank it WAY up to even hear anything. Second one (there are only two) is a 7:45 version of Peach - listening now! music Sound quality is excellent!

Yes amazing sound quality, just blasted it in the car and felt like I was there!

We've had leaks for decades. How much of what was leaked was ever released officially? I rest my case.

We had songs on boots that were later released on Crystal Ball, didn't we?

.

Oh wow, one release in what, twenty years? Plus a handful of tracks in NPGMC and some concert excerpts. When we should have gotten expanded albums and box sets etc.

And these soundboards are off da hook too.

I didn't even mention the Peach soundboard Encore from the Glam Slam show i was at back in 94'.

What a week we're having huh?

9 to 5 Peole sounds like it is something more recent like 2013-2015 but the drumming started out sounding like his classic 1 2 kick beats.

His way of singing is definately not his 80s voice, it sound more like how he sang in the 2000s

I hear you--it sounds like something he'd have done in the last few years. I'm not saying it is (but it wouldn't surprise me if he had pulled it out for 3rdEyeGirl to take a shot at), but it would have fit in just fine.

But, you know--having that 80's date might make a difference to how some people are hearing it. And maybe that ain't all bad.

I really doubt so. Pure 86 imo.

This bass sound (speed up + chorus fx) is typical from some 86 tracks, such as Crystal Ball, Last heart ...

We also have some rock tunes in this area Rockhard..., Witness.... , no need to wait 2013.

And this bass break at 4.03 is very similar to the other at 6.26 in Crystal Ball

Listening to P's "Glamorous Life" demo really paints a picture of his process. You can tell he believes in the song, but he's just running through the lyrics with hardly any emotion to lay down the reference track. And yet, he still sounds great. Most other artists would kill for the opportunity to sound as good when they ARE in fact trying really really hard (and still can't come close).

Oh, and 9 to 5 People is straight fire.

Really? Not to my ears. He's clearly playing the blue angel which he used alot around 87-88. That & the way he uses the pedals is a dead giveaway imo. I think that's him on the drums as well.

He had more interest in create new music. Anyway we had Crystal Ball, The Vault, some NPGMC tracks and... HITNRUN. But HITNRUN stopped before we could approach the '80 Phase III.

Still missing Roadhouse Garden and Crystal Ball II, this is true.

Finally heard most of these.

9 to 5 People is kicking my ass.

Elektra Tuesday is really good

Roadhouse Garden is great, but not as good as the live version.

Glamorous Life is good and cool to hear Prince singing it...but I really miss Sheila's percussion. It definitely adds some depth and glad he gave it to her.

Rough is awesome.

Eggplant is the one I am surprised I don't like more. I like the music and usually I love when Wendy takes the lead vocal, but I am just not feeling this one yet.

OK, I've spent some time with the new outtakes and here's my 2 cents: Rough is INCREDIBLE for 1980 (or any other time for that matter). Eggplant is funky yet hilarious (Wendy does a VERY unusual vocal). The Glamorous Life is a classic no matter WHO sings it but this version is so cool to hear! Roadhouse Garden is relevatory, much more melodic than the birthday show version (I LOVE the fact there's absolutely NO bass...). Come Elektra Tuesday is way funkier than I pictured it in my mind based on the title (the organ reminded me of Funkadelic's Bernie Worrell, actually) and is fantastic, last but not least is 9 To 5 People which completely caught me off guard, I'm not sure if Prince has ever rocked THIS hard in his released work. What threw me for a loop is that there is no chorus but it didn't even matter because the guitar work is totally insane....all in all, I have to say I'm satisfied and impressed equally....the fact that there's more where this came from is mind-boggling.... eek (sorry this is all in bold letters, I didn't realize until I posted)

I was there too. Up in the balcony actually. Standing right next to Sandra Bullock. man i'm so jealous of you two right now eek

all i remember from this show is that i had them on cassette, in like 1995 and listened to them
on the train, on my way to school, every single day.

particularly this performance of "peach" i could not get enough of. my eyes would nearly pop
out of my head everytime he got to that "i don't know what i'd do if i could but i cannot....."
and the following call and response music

it's SO great to finally have a soundboard of this. the only slight downside is that you cannot
really hear the audience anymore in the call and response. but that's not so bad.

thanks 2 whomever it concerns thumbs up!

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yep I think that is his drum style

But the voice is what get's me, listen to him talking and singing in 87-89 then his 2000s voice. The way he sings on this matches the 2000s. Listen to Cinamon Girl

it is most likely Jill Jones singing behind Prince on this one

"...(Prince) could have given me "The Glamorous Life". Sheila E. would come to the studio to play basketball and I did not know that the child was going in (to the studio) late at night and singing the songs...:"

-Jill JOnes

The Glamorous Life

Sheila E. - vocals, percussion Prince - all instruments, except where noted (uncredited) Larry Williams - saxophone David Coleman - cello

Initial tracking took place on 27 December 1983 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, CA, USA (the day before In A Spanish Villa and Next Time Wipe The Lipstick Off Your Collar), and the song was originally intended for Apollonia 6 until Prince began to work with Sheila E. in February 1984, at which time he set the song aside for her.

Sheila E.'s vocals were recorded in the first few days of April 1984, also at Sunset Sound. The Glamorous Life is notable for featuring the first use of saxophone on a Prince-related track, played by Larry Williams.

The track also features the first released appearance of David Coleman (Lisa Coleman's brother) on a Prince-related track, playing cello.

Most of us love and respect Jill. But I've listened over and over and over again on high-quality gear, and I do not hear anyone but Prince on the demo.

.

I think the interest and questioning about who the 'female' background vocalist (almost certainly only Prince in falsetto) has been caused by the phasing downshift by the leakers, which has inadvertently made that part really stand out.

.

By 1983, P had already promised Jill for several years that he would put together an album for her.

.

I view her statement (quoted below) as a lament that P, who (obviously) already had an established emotional and on-and-off romantic relationship with Jill, rushed to assemble an album and gave this to a newcomer (if that is the appropriate term, since it has been said that P first met Sheila as early as 1978), with the added sting that this song ended up being a Top 10 as the result of the PR phenomenon (and Jills' eventual album became only a very modest success in Europe).

.

It's a tremendous pop song, but I'm not certain that it would be as well known without WB's 1984 marketing machine behind it, and the particular cultural plateau of that very moment in time, and Jill probably would not have got an album that year even if he did let her have some of the better commercial tracks from this time. By holding out, and being very solicitous to Jill once her album finally got its chance, and contrastingly by quickly putting together an album for Sheila here, this had the 'perverse effect' (from Jill's POV, anyhow) of Sheila getting hot-off-the-presses material from and during the most successful period of Prince's career.

.

Although she hung around the Purple camp at the time (and was in a position to observe some of it comings and goings), we cannot be certain she would have even been aware of this one track *specifically* prior to its release. The song was originally written about Apollonia, and slated for the A6 album (hypothetically to be sung by A).

.

To balance things out, for fairness' sake,

.

Jill appears on 'Ooo She She Wa Wa', helping to fill Susan's relatively weak vocal (the same kind of production trick Paula Abdul used on 'Forever Her Girl' album); this was also a late entry to the album ('Blue Limousine', the last entry for the album had Susannah Melvoin 'imitating' Susan for the backing).

.

And she does also appear on 'The Belle of Saint Mark', and allegedly (*unconfirmed* at this point) the A6 take of 'Manic Monday'. Jill does not appear on any other V6 or A6 or related material ('17 Days', 'Take Me with U', 'Oliver's House', 'Next Time Wipe the Lipstick Off Your Collar'). She most likely did base her vocal on 'G-Spot' after Vanity's (rather than P's), however, and a number of other songs considered for her first album and aborted second album were culled from Vanity 6 outtakes. The very first new song laid down specificially for her album, 'My Man', seems to borrow the A6-style bubblegum synthpop record approach.

-----------------

It has the salaciousness of 'what could have been' and a hint of betrayal/conspiracy, so I'm certain some will continue to insist that it's Jill, but on this particular demo, I simply don't hear her, and her voice is distinctly recognizable to me (even though she was often tasked with camouflaging/enhancing/standing in for other billed performers).

.

If you closely follow along with the softer parts that sound momentarily like they could be a female vocalist, as the line continues you'll hear Prince's unmistakable vocal inflexions.

.

I don't understand the desire for grown people to indulge fictionalized Purple soap opera.

.

I remember flying down from SF with my girlfriend at the time & we got there crazy early like around 1pm. It was like 95 out & one of his guys at the club let us in early so we wouldn't fry. Thought so. Yeah, LA is quite a scene. I remember going to see him at the Kodak for the "ONA" tour in Hollywood, and was at the Highlands waiting for the aftershow to start. Was just there chillin' with this girl I brought having a drink. Then Woody Harleson walked up and joined the group I was in and just started chatting us up. A few minutes later, Robert Horry from the Lakers (at that time) walked by, as did a bunch other celebs. Was equal parts surreal, weird, and cool. I guess when it comes to Prince, we're ALL just fans. Not levels of fans, just all the same...
