I guess perhaps that's why I gravitate to the black and white ones from this period? The make up issue is not as glaring. Seems like the onstage photos don't suffer from the foundation problems as much either .... Maybe P did his makeup with the stage lights in mind? You're right about the stage makeup I think, he usually looked normal in the right lighting.
