I think all the usual suspects have already been rounded up, only Breakdown and This Could Be Us haven't been caught yet. Until now. Two of the best songs on ArtOfficialAge.

I mentioned both songs in my list on previous page. Two superb songs that would have graced any Prince album from any era. The man still had it right to the end.

If a multi-disc remastered compilation of his ballads were to be released this year with a few unreleased cuts such as "The Grand Progression", "Love Thy Will Be Done" (sung by Prince) and "A Place in Heaven", do you think it would sell well or not? Perhaps including extended versions of some released and unreleased songs such as "I Hate U" & "The Beautiful Ones"?

I love many of the ones mentioned.

I think "The One" is less about bragging and more of a pledge to the woman he loves as if he is telling her to trust him. I like it. It has a great melody.

I think Five Women is kind of a love song in a way (love it) . I am in total love with the song "Dionne' as well.

a 1000 hugs and kisses is so damn sweet. The Greatest Romance Ever sold (not sure if its been mentioned) is sensual and hypnotic.

MY other favorites (some repeats I realize)

The other side of the pillow

Satisfied

Power Fantastic

Call my Name

When she Comes

Strange Way

Another Lonely Christmas

Damn U

The Question of U

The Ballad of Dorothy Parker

Beautiful Ones

And God Created Woman

I don't know why but I can't bring myself to like Adore...it seems to 'busy' or convoluted or something.

If you are looking for major sales, I think a single disc would be best as P's strategy of releasing too much at once is part of what backfired in terms of commercial success. Perhaps a double would do if low priced and then included a few well known songs to the masses. I still don't think it would be a hit without major promotion (in the USA backed by exclusives with Target, Itunes, etc with Utube versions of the songs or a least some type of sampler to whet the appetite of the public.

AS far as what seems the right thing to do, P deserves a double disc of his very best ballads because a single disc doesn't come close to having room for them all.

HaThere Is Lonely is another good one. The Vault really is one of his most underrated records.

Agree with you on the song and album, the song is a heartbreaker, kind of like the ones on AOA in terms of his exposed vulnerability.

I too love "there is Lonely". his rarely used baritone, his simple but brilliant lyrics. I wish he did confessional songs like this one more often.

I used to love listening to Frank Sinatra's 'salon song' albums like " Only for the Lonely" and "In the Wee Small HOurs" And this Prince song (with a different arrangement) would have fit right in with those albums. Essentially, "There is Lonely" is a torch song for a man. In fact, a slow version and more mellow arrangment of 17 days would probably fit right in with these songs as well. My favorite song in those Sinatra albums I mentioned was a song called "Glad to Be Unhappy". Sadness done in a witty way.

If they have any taste, it would because those songs are just amazing. In fact any fan is doing themselves an injustice, if they don't hear those songs - Love thy will be done, The Grand Progression, Electric Intercourse and A Place in Heaven, then they do not know the genius of this man to write and convincingly sing some the best and sexiest ballads ever written.

.

Plus the Prince tapes of Gigolos get lonely and I don't wanna leave you are in that vault somewhere, imagine what they would sound like and then you have him singing "Baby ure a trip" cool.
