Quincy Jones: "Prince called Michael Jackson 'Camille'" So, I was watching the HipHop Dx vlog at YouTube about the rivalry between Prince and Michael Jackson, which seemed to have been pretty one-sided, juding from the "evidence" presented there. At a Q&A session, the host had asked Jones about this rivalry, and he recapitulated a story about how Michael had invited Prince to his house to convince him to collaborate on Bad. Prince had just finished directing Under the Cherry Moon and brought along a big box of tootsie rolls and cuff links. Michael thought it was some sort of voodoo. Quincy said that Prince called Michael 'Camille'.
I thought this was quite interesting. The names sound very much alike. Did Prince model his Camille character on Michael Jackson? Or was it just a slip of the tongue? Timewise, this would fit in sometime when Prince was experimenting with different configurations of the Dream Factory, Crystal Ball and Camille albums.

He also doesn't know what "recapitulate" means. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
