I agree! ugh it makes me question who's pulling the strings to convince his family to go with these plans?...ugh....just makes me wanna scream!

-- The admins have no confidence in the material or fan base!! How expensive could it be to just stream it?

Or they don't want the fans involved because they know we see through their schemes (meaning the industry reps!)...grrrr I trust those lawyers and such about as far as I can throw them and I know I can't throw them!..IMO those lawyers been scheming to get P's music back in the hands of WB from day one!.... sad

I guess it is about the masses and not the faithful followers?

Yeah but "very best of prince" has sold the most money since prince passed.it doesn't really make sense to put out a new hits cd if its gonna have the same songs

Maybe if it includes the best from the last 15-20 years, too? Something a bit more comprehensive? Or broken down by era so you can get a taste of albums that are harder to get?

There might be a variety of ways to do this. Honestly, I'd love to see a best of live performances. I love the videos but just the audio is more practical for me.

I think a greatest hits is the best way to go considering Prince done such a great job of making himself 'anonymous' to the newer generation of buyers, and can only lead to better things ie remastered catalogue following, with a greater market of people who actually know who he is snapping up the reissues. As boring a GH cd is for longterm fans it'll lead to what we want - eventually.

Speaking as a lawyer, I can confirm that's true in my particular case (or at least since about 1997 when the "Dawn" turned out to be an elaborate hoax). biggrin

Thanks for validating my suspicions Brian! .....ugh this is driving me insane to watch this train wreck of the century!"

No problem.

Just to give you some further tidbits into our plans... imagine we divide things into three new "Hits" CDs. On each one, we'll throw on one new song from the Vault (available only via full album purchase - no single song downloads) to make sure that real fans pay $15x3.

This way we'll maximize revenue from the larger audience, while milking the hardcore fans as well. We have decades more to milk money from the hardcore fans, so no reason to rush! evillol

I don't really think any deal is going to be huge. Even the sales after Prince's tragic passing were not huge in terms of revenue. Financially, one could argue keeping Paisley Park a going concern even if that's through other property investments and Album sales is the ultimate aim.
-- He sales are up over 200% in the month of August. You can find this info in Billboard.

Just to be clear, I'm not criticising Prince in any way, he did some Albums with a commerical interest more than others which he did purely for the sake of art, part of the reason I admire him.

Billboard has just one Prince Album now in the top 200 Albums, The Very best of Prince at 120. I just think most Prince fans have most works and casual fans will have a limited interest, we shouldn't be dissapointed if sales aren't huge. Prince was never all about the sales.

We don't need no damn greatest hits album again

Is there a greatest hits album that includes both WB and non WB music?
