The Exodus Has Begun. I love how funky that song is and the meaning behind it and now it has a new meaning to me.
We could have big fun 💜

biggrin Some great lines in the Big City Remix, testicles one two..

I used to love the maxi-singles back then. Randomly the Dancing Divaz Mix was a big club favourite here in Liverpool. I'll never forget being stunned hearing 'fantasy never hurt nobody, good life' getting mixed by a DJ one night.

Now that's a tough one. I honestly can't decide. I love the whole record and it's probably my second overall fave behind 1999. No way I can pick just one out of Bump Squad, Exodus, Good Life, Big Fun, Count the Days, NPS and Hallucination Rain.

Title track for me also. Really love this album, segues and all . Out of interest why do you always ask gender

lol yeahthat I was going to ask that too.

.

It was originally because I was curious to see if there was a noticeable difference between the songs that the women like and the songs that the men like.

I was looking for patterns.

I am a woman and I know what I like so I am really more interested in finding out which song appeal to men.

And I am even more curious about which songs appeal straight men vs. gay men, but when I tried to ask that question directly, well um ..... anyway,

I should probably stop asking that question if it makes people uncomfortable, because I'm not really here to conduct a sociological survey.

I am here to learn from and have fun with people who share my interest in Prince.

From the first listens back in the 90s, the standout track for me is Hallucination Rain.

Bump Squat I may like more, but the other one is where the album makes it clear this is written by no regular artist.

Hope you enjoyed a re-visit! Man, finding that track at the tail end of The Good Life maxi single was such a thrill back then. Then again, finding the maxi single was also a thrill. Not easy!

Get Wild and the Good Life, the rest is complete shit. Too many silly segues with the usual hood g rap type crap you find in the mid 90s with skits on rap albums. Sonny Thompson should have stuck to playing the bass, instead of trying to be Snoop Doggy Dogg.

.

Count the days would be good with the harmony singing, but all this liberaluse of Motherfucker and nihilistic thug lyrics "Got to blow this motherfucker away" is just pure watermelon music in my opinion. The fact they use harmony makes it sound like 1990s shucking and jiving for de white man. Skits are also unfunny and one of them is like "Get me soup bitch", is it any wonder it never saw commercial release.

I'm not sure what you mean by these references in the point you were making but let me tell ya, I do find them very offensive.

Hmmm..... "The Exodus Has Begun", "The Good Life", and "Big Fun" are my top 3. If I MUST pick my #1 fave then "The Exodus Has Begun" is my choice...

Love the album, so funkay cool . Sonny T.'s bass playing is awesome as always and Michael Bland too? Damn.... Although I'm sure Mr. Tora Tora did a lot of bass, guitar, etc as usual wink.

Shout Outs to: "The Good Life", "Count the Days", "Big Fun", "Cherry, Cherry"....

Hm, now I'm wishing Prince released this as his own. After Come , releasing The Gold Experience around the same time as (or hold off) The Black Album then releasing Exodus in 1995 as his own album would've solidified the '90s for him (at least in my eyes).

I have a feeling (all this just a fantasy so don't chop my hand off lol ) had this happened, "Days of Wild" would've gotten released on The Gold Experience.

I'll stop now biggrin, I'm restless and in a chatty mood today so ignore if I annoy.

Purple Music is my drug and I'm jonesin!!!!!

Count the days by far (ultra-harsh lyrics, beautiful melody)

Secondly, i would say The exodus has begun, and a special mention to Hallucination rain (with its title sounding very late 60's)...

It's hard for me to say a favourite, I really like Count The Days, the harmonising and the guitar playing are on point. Just wish Prince didn't use the word MF so much and that he had another version with the lyrics swapped. Return of the Bump Squad is just headbang I can't sit still to this song. Worst song on the album for me is Cherry Cherry I can't listen to it the whole way through. Hallucination Rain is another one I love, I love the psychedelic soul/funk 70's vibe which always appeals to me.

I skip that one too. I made an edit of this record that I listen to all the time. I removed Cherry Cherry, the segues and subbed in Days of WIld. Fucking edit is perfect and one of my most listened to albums of his.

Anyone ever laid this disc on a non fan? I've made a lot of copies for a lot of friends over the years and they love this thing.
